This prevents the extractor from riding up the case groove, which is the primary cause of tension loss and hook dulling in other designs. Superior Hook Geometry: Instead of a weak 90-degree cut, our hook is machined at an acute angle. Why is this better than my factory extractor?
Most factory extractors are made from Metal Injection Molding (MIM), which is brittle, or use an old design with 90-degree cuts that act as stress risers. Our extractor is fully machined from solid, high-quality tool steel, has a stronger hook design with no weak points, and is vacuum heat-treated. This means it is engineered from the ground up to not chip, break, or lose tension like factory parts often do.
What is a "Series 70" extractor?
A "Series 70" extractor is designed for 1911s that do not have a firing pin block, which is the original 1911 design. "Series 80" models have a firing pin block safety that is activated by the trigger, and the extractor has a cutout to accommodate it. This extractor does NOT have that cutout and will not work in a Series 80 or Schwartz-style safety system.
