EGW red dot mounts are meant to be installed from the left to the right (with the muzzle facing forward). The dovetail has a progressive taper to allow for easier install.\ This mount fits:

Simply remove the rear sight on your gun and replace it with our mount in order to mount your Vortex Viper/Venom, Burris FastFire, or Docter red-dot sight. You can take our mount off and replace your rear sight at any time. Mounting hardware included.Installation Instructions- Remove the rear sight*- Install the EGW Sight Mount in place of the rear sight- Place the red dot sight on the EGW Sight Mount(placing a small piece of paper between the red dot sight and the sight mount will make for easier removal and will keep Loctite off of the red dot sight.)- Apply blue Loctite to the provided mounting screws- Torque mounting screws to 15in/lbs2 Button Head Cap Screws - Provided for Vortex Viper and Venom Sights2 Flat Head Cap Screws - Provided for Burris FastFire and Docter SightsThe screws that are included with this mount require a 5/64'' allen wrench for installation.Click here to see a video from Vortex on how to install our red dot base on a slide.

“I rang and spoke with two different people to confirm that the mount can be drilled for the original crosspin and both confirmed that it could .i recieved and mounted my Burris only to find there not enough meat and you cannot use the crosspin.I rang and spoke to Devon at EGW and they checked and said that i had one from the old batch ,the new ones you can drill ,they did offer for me to send it back to them but did not offer me a replacement of the new type mount which is what they should of done .So as you can tell im a little annoyed -if your selling some thing at least know what your selling!!!!!”

“The mount was a poor fit on a new model Ruger Super Blackhawk. I had to grind down the lower edge of the step at the rear of the mount to get it to seat tight down on the frame. It worked after that and fit the Burris Fastfire well.”

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Unfortuantely, our mounts can not be a drop in fit on every firearm due to varying tolerances on our manufacturing processes and the company that built the gun, especially when working with cast frames. Since fitting is a common thing with our mounts, we recommend having a qualified gunsmith install them.

“Only problem I had was the 2 screws for theFastfire seemed to be too shallow for the Allen wrench and rounded off on the inside, got one out but haven't had time to get other one out, the screws for Vortex seem to be much deeper than the other ones.”

“The mount and red dot sight arrived, and I mounted them with no issues. I dialed my .44 in with hunting loads, and the mount/sight stayed secure. I then fired 5 rounds at my ram at 100 yds, and hit it 4/5.”
