“Got my Patton-S here 7-8 months ago, and now have about 700 miles on it. Prior to buying this, I was riding a V12. Upgrading to the Patton-S was mind blowing. This thing is amazing. It feels much safer than the V12 for many reasons, mostly thanks to the suspension, extra power, and high quality LK is known for.
Both Jason and Nick at eWheels answered my many tedious questions and their responses were quick, very helpful, and much appreciated while I decided which wheel to upgrade to. Thank you, both!! eWheels was famous for their excellent service at the time of my purchase, and with their competitive prices and product guarantees, I've been very happy with my purchase.
I chose a street tire option available at the time, Chao Yang H626, and it rides in heavy rain like it rides on dry pavement. Even down a huge, flight of stairs ~40-50 stairs in the rain. I have no visible signs of wear on the tire, typically running 30-35 psi. I'm lighter about 170lbs without gear. The suspension is fantastic, and thanks to the progressive spring, I've never bottomed out and I barely feel bumps, potholes or cracks. Down curbs, or even larger 18 inch drops are almost not even noticeable. Just a very smooth ride. At the time of purchase, no tubeless tire options were available. While tubeless is a goal for me still, I really enjoy my current tire, so its hard to imagine making the swap early... Anyway, the Patton-S is everything I ever wanted. Crazy power, more than enough speed for city riding, and fantastic acceleration capability.
The thing is built like a tank, very solid, very high quality in every way. I still haven't dropped it or wrecked it, but I know when it does eventually fall over, it will be fine. The trolley handle has held up so far. If something does eventually break, I expect it to be the trolley, but we'll see... I use the trolley probably more than most, and while I'm not needlessly rough with handling it while trolleying, I'm not babying it. I would call it normal use, with high frequency.
I have yet to run out of battery/range - I'd have to ride hard for probably 3-4 hours, I assume. I usually go about 40-45 miles total before charging. It usually shows charge level around 40% when I charge it, so I know I could get more out of the range. I just like the fast ride cus its so powerful when its full and most of my trips are only 2-5 miles. I accelerate and brake hard everywhere I go. I know I could go faster than 35mph, but I don't wear the pads for 40mph+ so I cruise about 30-35mph, most of the time - and its very smooth and stable and easy to control. The only time I've had minor wobbles is when braking at high speeds going down steeper hills and even then its not sudden its expected and is easily solved by slight carving or just speeding back up and not braking as hard. Emergency braking, like squatting low and grabbing the front handle and pulling back allows me to stop in an impressively short distance even from 32-35mph. I've taken my Patton-S on a few trails, and its good fun. Even with the street tire I have, its been more than capable of anything I've thrown at it. The only time I've come close to slipping would be riding on wet grass too fast, which was more user error than anything. Don't underestimate grass lol.
At only 80.5lbs, I can lift it into the trunk of my jeep no problem. Carrying it up longer staircases isn't super fun, but it is manageable. Between my purchase date and now, LK released at least one update. Originally did not have a parking mode, but now there is a parking mode which allows you to carry it up stairs without having to turn it all the way off and back on. Park mode acts like a motor disengagement button on other EUCs. I'm grateful for this update for sure.
The LeaperKim app is very limited, but EUC World (app) works to customize all the settings for the Patton-S. The screen on the Patton-S has so many settings with weird abbreviations that I just don't bother with changing settings on the EUC itself. The EUC World app makes it easy. My charger is still working, perfectly fine, but I have heard some people saying the stock charger from LK breaks quickly requiring an aftermarket charger purchase at some point. Again mine is still working so hopefully I get good life from it. I'm looking to buy an aftermarket charger to take advantage of the dual-charge ports should I ever want to do a fast charge, and just in case I need a backup.
I could keep going, I have many good things to say about this machine. Love it.”
“Amazing machine, after calibrating it & taking her on the road I hit an easy 40 mph. The confidence I get from the knobby tire once I go off road is INSANE no more slipping and sliding around like I do on my other wheel with a street tire.”
“I rarely write reviews but made sure I wrote one after dealing with Ewheels. I purchased the Patton S a few months ago after learning on & riding the V11 for about 2 years. The Patton S has been a phenomenal wheel & everything i need even as a bigger guy (6' 2" & 290lbs) the only issue i ran into was the original factory charger had an issue with the fan not circulating enough air & the charger was overheating but a few quick emails & Ewheels had a new charger shipped to my door at no cost to me. I absolutely recommend Ewheels for all your unicycle needs!”
“LeaperKim makes great options! Hands down nimble, lighter weight and fun. I’ve owned the Lynx, awesome wheel also. This is the Best mid-range for quality, weight.
Ewheels always responds to questions. As others have noted, their customer service it the Best!!”

Patton S Review
Pros:
Built tough with suspension
Safer brand, not known for battery fires
16" wheel is agile on sidewalks and in tight spaces
Great on bike parks and jumps
Cons:
20" wheel is more stable at higher speeds
Stairs are a struggle—small sets are possible, but risky
Not ideal for street riding above 35 mph
Overall: The Patton S is an excellent wheel if you understand the trade-offs of a 16" vs 20" wheel.
P.S. People commonly report their wheels getting bricked by trying to perform firmware updates through their smartphone app to the EUC. From what I've heard, Android is more successful than iOS. Be sure to set your phone to not fall asleep or go to the lock screen during the process. Personally: Don't fix what ain't broke. Don't update if it works.”
“I bought a Veteran Patton S. The build quality is excellent. The design keeps the wheel protected with the bars and pads taking impact if it crashes. It is a bigger wheel than my last one and took some getting used to. Everything works as expected. I hope Leaperkim keeps innovating. This is definitely a nice wheel.”
“The Patton S is my 4th EUC (S18, MCM5v2, and Falcon), but my first EUC weighing over 55lbs. I was hesitant to get a heavier wheel, but glad I did because the Patton S is amazing. I've done 20 miles on the wheel in the first few days and found it super solid out of the box. With the exception of a seat, I feel like this wheel requires no additional mods, or bumpers for sharp edges.
In buying this wheel, my requirements were: can sustain 30-35mph for most of the battery, a larger battery to better accomodate voltage sag, smart BMS, and plush suspension. And while the Rocket was on my radar as a potential next wheel, I've been wanting a Leaperkim to see if it lives up to the hype, and it does! In addition to meeting my main needs, the build quality and thoughtfullness that went into this wheel is incredible.
I think a lot of the weight of this wheel (even with magnesium alloy) is for structural support in case of crashes. I have zero concerns about damaging any key components, and "built like a tank" is appropriate for this wheel.
I watched some reviews saying the knobby tire has a dropoff feeling when making deep turns which I did notice it on my initial ride. But when I bumped the PSI from 30-35, that effect seemed to go away and the carving/turning felt more consistent.
I'd say if you are used to smaller wheels, this is definitely a big step up in heft. But if you are looking for a upgrade in speed/power/quality/comfort, the Patton S hits the mark and feels like a very refined wheel. Plus there are so many settings to customize that I'm very excited to see how it rides in it's final state after a few hundred miles.”
