NEW: Veteran Patton-S, 2,220WH Battery, 3,000W Motor, Suspension Knobby [Yuanxing] / 62lb Reviews

5 Rating 6 Reviews
I bought a Veteran Patton S. The build quality is excellent. The design keeps the wheel protected with the bars and pads taking impact if it crashes. It is a bigger wheel than my last one and took some getting used to. Everything works as expected. I hope Leaperkim keeps innovating. This is definitely a nice wheel.

The Patton S is my 4th EUC (S18, MCM5v2, and Falcon), but my first EUC weighing over 55lbs. I was hesitant to get a heavier wheel, but glad I did because the Patton S is amazing. I've done 20 miles on the wheel in the first few days and found it super solid out of the box. With the exception of a seat, I feel like this wheel requires no additional mods, or bumpers for sharp edges. In buying this wheel, my requirements were: can sustain 30-35mph for most of the battery, a larger battery to better accomodate voltage sag, smart BMS, and plush suspension. And while the Rocket was on my radar as a potential next wheel, I've been wanting a Leaperkim to see if it lives up to the hype, and it does! In addition to meeting my main needs, the build quality and thoughtfullness that went into this wheel is incredible. I think a lot of the weight of this wheel (even with magnesium alloy) is for structural support in case of crashes. I have zero concerns about damaging any key components, and "built like a tank" is appropriate for this wheel. I watched some reviews saying the knobby tire has a dropoff feeling when making deep turns which I did notice it on my initial ride. But when I bumped the PSI from 30-35, that effect seemed to go away and the carving/turning felt more consistent. I'd say if you are used to smaller wheels, this is definitely a big step up in heft. But if you are looking for a upgrade in speed/power/quality/comfort, the Patton S hits the mark and feels like a very refined wheel. Plus there are so many settings to customize that I'm very excited to see how it rides in it's final state after a few hundred miles.

This is my first wheel, so I have nothing to compare it to. the learning curve was very steep for me. In part because of its weight and high pedal position. I can attest to. It's ruggedness. it has hit the pavement uncountable times without serious damage. Mostly scrapes on the bottom of the pedals and a few scrapes on the bumpers. I managed to learn, seated riding first and have transitioned to standing now, and I am starting to appreciate some of the performance in acceleration and agility. I would give this machine five stars on its indestructible nature alone, But it is also delivers a very smooth and solid ride. The Stock seat is quite hard and uncomfortable, however. Only been riding for two weeks, but it can only get better from here.

WOW what a wheel! I started PEV riding on a Onewheel XR, 3 weeks later learned in a few hours on a mten3, 5 months after that a Shermax for street, 1 month later a Hero for trails. I needed better suspension from achy joints, and I can’t imagine a wheel feeling any better than the Patton-S. It’s just so powerful, agile, and fun with its light weight and compact size. It is the perfect wheel for beginners and veteran riders alike who don’t need crazy long range and value portability, power, and playfulness above all else. The hero was okay, but constantly bounced around like I was on a pogo stick and I was always worried it would spontaneously combust. This wheels suspension is absolutely perfect, the best suspension of any EUC maker by far. Just buttery smooth all the time, the grail of trail wheels. I’m seriously considering selling my Shermax to upgrade to a Sherman-L now for street, not that the Patton-S can’t handle street duty, but for when I want more range while touring and peace of mind hitting potholes with a bigger wheel. I never considered the Lynx because the three wheel setup is the dream, and with the Sherman-L only being 14 lbs heavier and twice the range of the Lynx, the Patton-S/Sherman-L combo seemed like a no brainer to me. I was considering the V14 as well, but I loved my Sherman max so much I don’t trust any other EUC maker, especially when Inmotion has had a history of quality control issues on multiple wheels with all the cutout, DOA, warranty claim horror stories. This wheel is a proven 2nd gen which gives me confidence, with about every safety feature one could want. Waterproofing would be nice, but I don’t commute with it or ride in the rain anyway and live where it hardly ever rains, that to me would be the one reason to maybe go with V14>Patton-S . Leaperkim is top tier when it comes to wheel build material and quality control, their lineup is limited and the attention to detail on the very few wheels they concentrate their attention on is very apparent. This thing is a tank and weapon, not one of a dozen toys the other makers rapidly pump out every few months that disintegrate after one small crash. I just wish they would make an ultra portable wheel that could fit in a backpack, so I could upgrade my mten3 and have a Leaperkim Trifecta.

I am surprised there is not much reviews on the Patton-S considering the extreme quality of the thing. Coming from an Inmotion v12 pro, I was not expecting much more than just saving my knees with a suspension EUC. Boy was I wrong! The acceleration and the smoothness of the ride are on another level. I’m no speed demon, I usually ride between 20-32mph. Over 25mph I used to start stressing on the v12 that felt kind of wobbly. The Patton-S feels much more stable at these speeds. I love how nimble it feels and the tire provides an excellent ride at 30psi for me. I’ve seen reviews saying the tire feels like riding on a knife’s edge, but I did not experienced that at all. I did feel this sometimes on the v12 though, where past a certain point it is hard to bring it back straight. I do not miss the color display of the v12. The Casio-Style display of the Patton-S is large and effective. The buttons are much easier to use for me than the tiny touch screen of Inmotion. Not missing having to press several times on the display to wake it up. I’m a tall and heavy rider (6’2” - 240lbs). Nonetheless, the Patton-S does not feel small to me and I was not able to bottom it out. I purchased the Patton-S as a pre-order. Ewheels provided me with updates on the production process and they’ve been very proactive and supportive. Buy without hesitation!
