We had a fantastic holiday. We met a great group of people and saw loads of stunning, and often undiscovered places. Alex's local knowledge was exceptional - and he went to great lengths to make sure he was meeting everyone's needs. As just one example, both my wife and I have awkward dietary requirements and he catered for us at every meal - producing amazingly good food considering we were camping. We'd recommend Fresh Adventures to anyone and everyone!

My husband and I went on the Fresh Adventure Vancouver Island tour at the end of September. It was time so well spent. First, Alex, our guide was phenomenal. I can’t say enough about how much effort and hard work he put in to making sure each camper had a trip they enjoyed. The ages in our group ranged from 20’s- mid 60’s and everyone was able to participate in the hikes and activities. Highlights included the jaw dropping scenery, beautiful serene hikes, hot springs, amazing food prepared by Alex and camaraderie between Alex and the participants. Be prepared to be camping, not “glamping” although I have to say the Canadian campsites are well maintained and some had hot showers. We had comfortable tents and sleeping pads which made sleeping outside so fun.

Just finished our first small group tour ever. Alex was an incredible host and camp cook. He showed us places only locals would know and pushed us to explore the island beyond what we would have ever tried on our own or in a larger group. I highly recommend joining Alex for one of his adventure trips.

Just spend an incredible 8 days on Vancouver Island with guides Alex and Elisha and had an incredible experience. I went into this with very little camping experience, actually I am a hotel type person, and returned willing to do it all again. I had a very positive experience, a variety of activities are offered and the meals were really incredible considering what you think people typically eat while in the bush. My favourite was our Seafood feast which featured mussels, crab and shrimp - all fresh off the dock in Campbell River. Alex even did a cheese fondue for lunch between hikes - very creative I think! If you are looking for a camping adventure you won’t be disappointed with Fresh Adventures.

This ain't your standard bus tour. It's much better!. If you want to participate in your vacation instead of just watching the scenery go by (which by the way is breath-taking), call Alex for an unforgettable adventure.

All in all a wonderful experience, a truly unique and awe inspiring adventure - don't book this if you want the luxury of preening 4 times a day but do go if you want a 5* experience, if you want to see loads of different animals, amazing scenery, feel dwarfed by 250 foot (75 m) trees, pause as a bear strolls in front of the van, paddle to a waterfall in a canoe, jump in to sparkling lakes, watch whales, seals, sea lions in their natural habitat and generally learn more about this fascinating part of the world. Alex's professionalism should be commended, the organisation was faultless and the food was exemplary, most of all he went over and beyond to ensure everyone had a great time. I would strongly recommend this tour, especially to those looking for an escape to nature.

Usually I plan a trip long in advance and once there drive to all my desired destinations including my rented living spaces after long days of hiking and navigating. However on my most recent trip to Vancouver Island, I decided to let a guide do all the work for me, and that ended up being a wonderful decision! I selected Fresh Adventures tours based on its great reviews. Although I haven't been camping for a few decades, the promise of great gear and quality food along with assurances from Alex that I could easily keep up with the younger members convinced me to apply. I ended up loving every place we went to and the wonderful camaraderie of the multi-aged group as it quickly bonded. I shared the excitement of canoeing to an absolutely beautiful waterfall in Strathmore Park, soaking in hot springs splashed by ocean waves on the east coast, 'zen'ing out on numerous beaches that matched the beauty of the Olympic National Park, several boat trips (sightings of seals, whales, bear, otters) and hiking through incredible old growth forests. Everyday really was a new adventure. Each morning and evening the group had great discussions and much shared laughter while eating delicious meals freshly prepared by Alex (with some voluntary help of individuals). Yes there periods when we had to sit in the van to get to the next site, but for once I wasn't responsible for the driving/navigating and the time provided an opportunity for further conversations. I can't think of a better guide than Alex. His high-energy and obvious love of the island translated into opening our eyes to the beauty of the island. By living on the island he knew the absolutely best spots to visit. His attention and willingness to adapt to all our different requests was so appreciated! Given my food sensitivities, I wasn't sure if he could accommodate my special requests, but he went beyond my expectations, providing thoughtful alternatives when needed. Before the trip I made several enquiries via email and he answered them all quickly. Alex truly wanted each one of us to have a unique and wonderful experience and worked hard every moment to provide it. From carrying the canoes down a rocky embankment without assistance to providing opportunities for an occasional cocktail hour in town. I simply can't imagine recreating the enjoyment of this trip without his assistance and charm! If you enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors, falling asleep to the lull of gently breaking waves, the smell of bacon on the griddle in the morning, then this is trip for you. Given the expenses of transport, food and 'housing' are covered in the fee (not including optional trips) the cost is quite reasonable. Definitely will use Fresh Adventures again!
