This course provided very detailed coverage of safer recruitment in schools in a way that was interesting and engaging. The assessments were relevant and the case scenarios thought provoking.

Really good comprehensive course , the only thing I would like to add is - I am a DSL and many DSL's need to do Safer recruitment training , but you don't have this title in your job descriptions for the certificate

great course, although i found the part about children more/less at risk misleading. The first slide suggested young people with unsafe family lives or extra leanring needs are more at risk, but other slides suggest you should not use this kind of prejudice, and should assume all chidlren are at risk.

I have two comments. First, I have dyslexia and the questions could be reviewed for dyslexia friendliness. The question on 'Reasonable adjustments', for example, does not test whether or not I know that disabilities need to be taken into consideration and steps taken to accommodate the disability. The question is test of my memory for the actual word used in legislation and is, therefore, not a reasonable question for dyslexics to answer. Second, the training recommends a proforma application form to allow candidates to be compared. This advice contradicts the unconscious bias training, which states applications should not be compared against each other but only against an objective standard.
