“This is a great course and one that I am likely to refer people to when I have completed safeguarding investigations within sports. However, as a LADO I feel it is absolutely imperative to include us within the 'reporting concerns' section because our role is specific to managing allegations against adults working with children. I appreciate that social care is referred to, however we do not sit within social services. We are safeguarding specialists and our role enables us to act as a conduit between organisations. We provide advice and guidance and where threshold has been reached, we chair strategy meetings. This is important particularly within sports whereby an adults employment may be outside of sport, given much of the work force is made up of volunteers.”
