“A training course that consists very largely of reading out text from powerpoint slides is not a good learning experience. Also, the course does not address tensions between different protected characteristics. For example, the section of the course covering gender reassignment encourages organizations to replace gendered language, invite employees to state pronouns when referencing themselves, and introduce gender-neutral bathrooms. Yet women, or indeed men, may perceive this to be undermining their own sexual identities, and thus constituting discrimination in relation to the protected category of sex. As the Equality Act defines harassment in terms of its perception by victims, this guidance could lead to complaints against organizations which follow it.”
