“A very rich, incense, spicy niche-type fragrance for dirt cheap. Might not be the best blind buy, as oud and cumin aren't the most user-friendly notes. But if you like rich, resinous, Middle-eastern sort of scents (think Amouage, Montale.) This baby would be a bargain at twice the price. Many people compare this to Aramis Calligraphy but I've never smelled the Aramis. Small complaint: Cheap, kinda crappy bottle/sprayer. No worries though as the juice is strong and on-point. Sprayed 1 spray on my chest at 11:30am and it's still noticeably present at 5:30pm. Eager to see how long she'll go. Cheers!”
“I purchased this based on comparisons with Kilian Rose Oud (expensive, but I've never actually tried it) and Aramis Calligraphy Rose (own it and LOVE IT!). Although I do like the scent, I personally believe it's no where near the quality of Calligraphy Rose. Yes, they both have that initial strong blast of rose, but the comparisons end there. Also, Shades Wood has a metallic vibe to it that doesn't quite agree with me for some reason, but I only detect it when I compare it directly with the aforementioned. Great longevity and performance though...so no problems there.”
“Raspberry, woods, leaves, and cinnamon. That's what this cologne smells like -- a woodsy, autumn leafy, raspberry rose type of smell. Of course, this cologne has no raspberry or cinnamon in it. But if I had to translate the fragrance of this beautiful scent in ordinary vernacular that is what it would be. What it really has is citrus, rose, pepper, cumin, cedarwood, sandalwood, oud...At the moment Shades Wood is my favorite cologne. My issue with it, however, is that it's not very masculine. It works as a cologne, and for sure I would not want a woman smelling like this cologne, but something about it is too much on the floral rose side of things without having enough of the masculine musky wood for balance. You'd have to have the look in order to rock this type of cologne. It's not for everyone.I sprayed some on the inner liner of a jacket a week ago, and it seems like the jacket perpetually smells of this cologne now. It's has a pretty sillage about it in the way it trails, and moderate-heavy projection. Armaf is the house I can depend on when I need interesting, heavy-working cologne for less than 30 dollars. I mean, it's not even about the money. Armaf make great cologne, regardless of the price. And the bottle and presentation are fantastic.”
“Complex scent but very beautiful rose. You have to wait for the dry down to really appreciate this one and have to like rose based scents. Not bad at all !”
