“I was selected to receive some samples of some colognes by Bzzagent. One was Dolce & Gabbana "The One" for Men. There is a whole art to reviewing cologne I have discovered during this sampling. The top notes are the light scents that evaporate quickly and disappear. The heart notes are the scents that arrive just before the top notes end. The purpose of the heart notes are to soften the transition from the top notes to the base notes. The base notes bring depth to the cologne. The heart notes and base notes are the scents that stick around and make up the personality of the cologne. Who knew there was such a science. “I must say that this fragrance didn't really grab me after smelling it the first time. It had a stronger earthly tone to it than other colognes I have been reviewing. It kind of took me back to younger days of wearing colognes, like Old Spice or Stetson. It has me feeling a little like an outdoor woodsman as I am trying it for the third different day today. I put it on this morning and it actually has a long lasting strength to it, as I can still smell the fragrance some 8 hours later. It has faded slightly, but for a single application, I can definitely give it thumbs up for its lasting ability.
