“I received this ear thermometer from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I was expecting it to take awhile to get the thermometer connected to the app on my phone but I was wrong. It was super easy to do.
The thermometer seemed to take temperatures very quickly and accurately. I set up profiles for myself and my 5 year old daughter. You have the option to save a temperature to each profile, so if there is more than one child that's sick, you can keep track of each kiddos temperature separately. I can see this being a huge benefit when you're sleep deprived and trying to keep track of which child needs medication and the presence of a fever (or not, hopefully!). Overall, I'd recommend this thermometer to all parents - it seemed to work quickly and well.
I do wish the thermometer had different options - to take temp in the ear, on the forehead, etc.”
“I received the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel. As a mother of two young kids (especially during a pandemic), I'm constantly taking temperatures. So I was super excited to be chosen to test out a new thermometer for my review! First of all, I was a little intimidated at first since I'm not super tech savvy and an app is required to use the thermometer but I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to download and use. It's extremely user friendly. You can make profiles for each person using the thermometer and it keeps a record of everyone's temperatures and at what time that temperature was taken. As a mother, there's so much on my mind all the time so to have charted temperatures gives me so much less to remember! I also love the fact that you're able to check off symptoms. The thermometer was extremely accurate considering the doctors got the same readings as I did when I took their temperatures right before the appointment. I have recommended the Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer to all of my mom friends already! This is absolutely my favorite thermometer I've ever used in my six years of motherhood. “I received this thermometer through the Stellar Product Testing Panel and I'm impressed! First off, the fact that I don't have to wrestle with my squirmy one year old is a win. The thermometer gives a read almost instantly after pressing the button. Goodbye sitting and waiting. The temperatures seem pretty accurate to me based on the results and what we know about our average body temps. It even gives a smiley face or sad faces depending on the temperature reading so that can be fun for kids to see and understand what it is saying. I love that there is an app that collects the information through Bluetooth from the thermometer. The temperature shows up instantly without a lag. Setting up profiles for each family member is simple and you just choose whose profile you're saving the information to. I like the idea of the app because parents can have a log of date, time, symptom, and temperature. Easy tracking and quick reference if necessary. It's like having a personal nurse on hand. The app also gives you information about illnesses in your area which I love the idea of so we can know what kinds of things are going around, especially having kids in child care. This thermometer is simple, accurate, and incredibly fast but you get so much more from it through the app. You get feedback/guidance in the app based on the temperature reading and what you can do for yourself or child. “Please do yourself a favor and purchase this thermometer for your family! The Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer was easy to use, and most importantly, gave me accurate results when I needed it! Downloading and setting up the app was a breeze, and I love having the ability to have a profile for each member of my family. I had personalized guidance for each member of my family based on their age and symptoms- super helpful! A few days after receiving this thermometer, my daughter came down with an unexplained fever. I was able to tag each of her temperature readings to her profile and had an easy way to track and monitor the readings. So helpful to have a place to save the data instead of trying to remember when I last took her temp AND what the reading was! “I'm so happy with this thermometer. I have quite the wiggly 2 year old and taking her temperature accurately is not an easy job, so I appreciate the 1 second precise reading it provides me with.
It is compact, light weight and the display can be easily read both in bright light and complete dark.
I love the fact that it doesn't require probe covers to work. I used to use a different brand that requires those and sometimes the cover was on but not completely right and the thermometer wouldn't make a reading. Problems like this at 3am? No thanks!
The thermometer is only used by the 3 of us in our house, so I really don't feel the need for covers (which you can buy separately if you prefer to have them. Everybody happy!).
The app is so handy! I used to keep a note on my phone or a notepad close by to note down temperatures and times to track the progress of a fever, but that's no longer needed. I can simply take the temperature and the app will note whose temperature, when and the actual reading so seamlessly. The best part: I don't even need my phone close by. I get a notification asking me if I want to save the temperature that was just taken and I can simply go back to it later when it's convenient to me. All I need to do then is assign it to one of our family member's profile. Talk about nifty! Makes it so easy to be there for my toddler when she needs me most but also keep proper track of her status.
The app will also help you track different symptoms, not just temperature. If and when we need to see a doctor, everything is noted there, so I can give the doctor precise information without the mental gymnastics.

“The Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer is super user-friendly, and app was quick to set up! With a wiggly toddler, the instant-read is very helpful. I set the app up for every family member (I have two kids), and I really like that if you take someone's temperature and then open the app, it asks you who's temp was taken and prompts the recording of it. I definitely need intuitive things like that in my life, otherwise, the manual entry would never get done! Lol! That is probably my favorite feature of the app, but my second favorite is the option to "Check your local illness risk". It's a cool feature, especially if we are planning to travel across the city to go to a park or zoo, I can do a quick search to see if that area is high risk. I have a newborn and a toddler, and anytime the toddler gets sick (which feels like all the time), the newborn is right behind her. But this feature gives a little peace of mind, which goes a long way! The thermometer also feels really accurate, and I trust the readings I've done so far. I like that the app will track the readings and ask you questions as well to prompt whether or not it is homecare needed or if you should call the doctor. It doesn't replace your judgment on the level or seriousness of your child's illness, but again, it provides that peace of mind and reassurance you're doing the right things. “I have two small kids, that means A LOT of runny noses, coughs, and...temperature checks. But trying to get them to stay still long enough to get an adequate reading can sometimes be tough, especially if they're feeling really under the weather. The Kinsa Thermometer is awesome. It gives you a reading in 1 SECOND. And it's an ear thermometer, which makes it easier to get an accurate reading (I never know if I've covered enough forehead for the temporal ones). When I repeat readings, they're always within =/- 0.4F which is pretty good in my opinion.
Another great feature is the Kinsa app. You can add every family member in and log temperature checks for each person, making it super easy to keep track of temperature trends. If you're anything like me, you forget or mix up numbers all the time, resulting in you needing to catch your child for yet another reading. I really liked the Kinsa app. It was easy to use and had just enough features to help you keep track of things (you can add symptoms with each reading).
I'd totally recommend this smart thermometer. Even if you're not using the "smart" part, the fact that it can give you an accurate reading in 1 second is worth it alone.
