“The salmon was awful, the flesh was soft and mealy with very little smoked flavor. In the past, the salmon has been smooth, fatty and elegantly smoked. Having eaten Scottish smoked salmon for many decades I lament the passing of the wild-caught version for the most part due to overfishing and the replacement with farm-raised fish. The quality of which can be highly variable. I think at this point Scottish smoked salmon is a thing of the past and I will not be doing it again, marketing notwithstanding.”
