“Nachdem ich schon alle anderen Messerformen von Kyohei Shindo hier im Shop vor einiger Zeit kaufen konnte, bin ich froh jetzt noch ein Bunka bekommen zu haben.
Tolles Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis .”
“If you are looking for a great knife at a great price, then this is it. Fantastic blade geometry, light weight, sharp, real laser. The handle could be better and tang hole is not sealed. I replaced mine with an octagonal one. In my collection I have 4 knives from Kyohei Shindo and I love them all.”
“A very roughly crafted knife. The blade appears irregularly hammered and the thickness of the blade varies (but it's straight from tang to tip). The handle is cheap and the tang not filled. The Kurouchi is not particularly beautiful.
The blade is ground very thin (similar to the bevel on my Takamura), but the out-of-the-box sharpness was not outstanding. After one round on the whetstone , the knife was quite sharp though. I cut a few parsnips with it - glides like butter, but the blade also feels fragile due to the thin grind. Food release was good - maybe the irregularity of the blade surface and varying thickness contributes to this like it does on the Matsubaras.
Recommended as an introduction to the world of laser knives (if you prefer a traditional carbon steel). For the price (79 EUR), despite minor weaknesses, a clear recommendation. If you value a clean finish or a less fragile blade, you should probably choose other brands.”
