I purchased 1 box during a sale, but one copy only lets you build decks for two of the PCs. A 2nd copy lets you build the other 2 PCs and duplicates of monster decks you can use in the expansions. On sale, it's a great deal if you can get 2 boxes, or just buy the much more expensive 2nd edition.

Arkham Horror LCG is an excellent card game that really gives you a sense that your investigator is moving through a Lovecraftian nightmare scenario and hoping to survive until the finish and save all of humanity. The core gameplay is wonderful and hugely varied with different investigators providing a lot of opportunities for unique gameplay strategies. My only concern is that the monetary investment to experience more of what this game has to offer can be quite formidable, so be wary of that before you try something that might eat up some of your discretionary income.

I got this on sale. there's no way I would pay what that want full price. The components don't justify the high cost. However for how cheap I got it I am happy with it. It is challenging and fun and has more replayablity than I expected with just he core set. Playing at 2 players. If you play with more players you'd likely want a second set.

If you’re new to the game, get the revised core set. It has better components and allows for up to 4 players, otherwise you’ll need two of these

Best LCG I've played! This game has an incredibly unique way of telling a story that uses cards instead of a story book. Its also incredibly challenging without feeling impossible. If you want to play solo or with two players, just this box is all you'll need. But then you'll be hooked and will want to buy more packs for new investigators and scenarios. While this game is difficult to learn, once you start playing, it just flows!

Although this is a great game, with the release of the Revised edition core set (which doubles most of the key cards and drastically increases cardboard token counts), this version is likely only best for those who likely won't purchase any additional content and are content with the 3 scenario campaign within this box. For those looking to expand in the future, definitely opt for the Revised edition.
