The first thing I noticed playing Armada was how much it really felt like this was as close as tabletop can probably get to commanding a fleet of starships. Things like stacking your commands and commanding squadrons just feel natural in this game. Once the second wave of product hits, this game will really shine.

Upon first opening your box of Armada you notice the contents seem a little sparse. Thats the first thing I seemed to notice anyway. But after going through the rules and realizing that it is really just an introductory box and that the add on ships are where the true meat and potatoes. Do NOT stop with just the core, Realize that you need to invest in more ships even duplicate copies of the same "starter" ships. If you can get past the limited contents of the "starter" you will be in for a new amazing strategy game far surpassing Xwing. "Stay on Target...

This game took me a bit to get used to it. I am also new to miniature board games but i did like it after looking up the review video. Starting to come out with lots of addons. Its a little bit pricey for me but still bought it to try out. The quality of the figures are great but the game is little hard to learn.

The team that brought us X-wing has done it again with a more complicated and impressive title. The core set while expensive is worth the initial investment, especially if you buy it online here or other retailers rather than dropping 100 dollars on it. You get a good variety of ships in the core set, but the real meat and potatoes of the game is still yet to come in the Wave 2 expansions which will introduce Capital ships. Regardless if you like playing small scale skirmishes with what is included in the box or large scale fleet engagements, through the variety of expansions this is the game for you.

Having been playing and loving X-Wing since its release, I wasn't sure how I would feel about Armada. My cautiousness was laid to rest instantly. Even with just the core set, this game is a versatile and strategic masterpiece. Add in the expansions that have already been released, and those that have yet to, and you will be digging deep into your strategic mind to overcome your opponent. No one match is the same, with so much customizable fleet options. A brilliant game, and one that shouldn't be missed by any Star Wars or miniatures fan.

I bought this 4 weeks ago from Amazon and it was $15 more expensive. I didn't know what I was getting into. These battles can be long (2 hours + if you play with high point armies). Any X-wing fan will love this. It is similar to X-wing but gives you more control (read to mean more strategy involved). The game is enough right out of the box and expansions aren't really needed but will add to replay-ability.

When X-wing was released, I was amazed at the amount of detail that the miniatures displayed. As I played, however, I realized that I would never see the full scope of a Star Destroyer. With Armada, you do get the ability to see the full scope and size of these impressive ships. The gameplay is very smooth, and the only complaint I have is the amount of ships available, but FFG is really doing this one right! I highly recommend for the tabletop AND for the RPG!!!
