“The model itself is the same as the ones that come in the Core Set. You want to buy this expansion for the unique pilot cards that come with it! Howlrunner is the perfect complement for those who want to fly a tight TIE formation, as it adds the ability for any friendly ship in range 1 to reroll an attack die. Backstabber adds another great ability, allowing you to roll an additional attack die when attacking from outside a defender's firing arc. Very thematic! Nice art as always, and a great additional miniature for your TIE swarm.”

“TIE swarms and mini-swarms are still a time honored tactic in the X-Wing Miniatures Game. However, TIE fighters have one action missing on their action bar: the target lock. But there's a pilot in this pack who aids that. Enter Howlrunner, the most expensive regular TIE in X-Wing. Her ability allows for each friendly ship at range 1 to reroll one attack die when using their primary weapon. Now the swarm has the ability to make the most of it's two dice per attack roll. Paired with Swarm Tactics, an upgrade card that allows for another ship to have the same pilot skill as the equipped pilot at the start of combat, and Howlrunner is a fantastic pilot. The other two pilots are not bad, but Howlrunner is the queen of this set. If you run basic TIEs, at least one of these expansions is a must-have.”

“I grabbed a couple of these with the core set because I like the idea of running many TIE's. Howlrunner was a nice surprise to say the least, and now I may need to get a couple of more... As always the models are beautiful to display even when not playing...”

“This is the quintessential Imperial ship for anyone looking to play as the Empire. With great pilots like HowlRunner and Dark Curse leading your swarm, you can really strike fear into the hearts of Rebel scum players. The maneuvers are very flexible and the actions provide great options to any situations that could arise. Get one. Get two! Get eight!!!!!”

“If you fly Imps you must have this. Tie swarms are a great strategy and getting an amazing card like Howlrunner is one of the main reasons. Buy this right after you get your starter kit.”

“.....wait, you want more? Ok, let's face it, since 1977 these things have been a part of the sci-fi landscape, and any Star Wars dogfight game will include them. When it comes to X-wing miniatures, these guys are the point fillers in an Empire force. With swarms, the more the merrier. And the manueverability of the TIE is excellent for swarm attacks. And yes, Howlrunner is one nasty lady.”

“The TIE fighter is a great miniature and there's nothing quite like throwing eight TIEs at your enemy and overwhelming them with precision team tactics! You get a little more bang for your buck with the starter set but you gotta get some of the individual ones for the pilots and upgrade cards specific to this expansion. Great deal on a classic cornerstone to the imperials!”

“This is one of the most important expansions for any Imperial player to own. TIE swarms are the most iconic tactic the Empire used in the classic films, and this ship perfectly represents it. With a starting cost of a mere 12 points, the TIE Fighter definitely makes its presence known when in groups of 3-4. When you add in pilots such as Howlrunner or Mauler Mithel (Core Set Pilot), they become absolutely terrifying. To any Imperial player or even a casual collector, I recommend this expansion.”
