TIE swarm FTW! The TIE fighter is a cheap, disposable ship with a good maneuver dial that can just overwhelm an opponent because you've got 7 or 8 ships to their 2. Plus, its fun to learn to fly them in formation. Great ship for what it does, and the usual best price from Miniature Market.

TIE Swarm...say no more... TIE Swarm was viable when the game came out, and is still just as devastating. Howlrunner is the classic "teacher" of the "TIE Academy", but there are also some other great choices for the "teacher". Or, use a handful of TIEs as a diversion and add in a TIE phantom You will need half a dozen of these.

With the release of TFA core set and the Tie Fighter F/O, Howlrunner will still be a staple in tie swarms and a must have for a effective tie swarm. Howlrunner is the favorite in this expansion pack but all the named pilots are very effective. If you are just starting out you need this expansion if you want to fly swarms.

You are nothing without a swarm. One of the best pilots that come with this expansion is Dark Curse. Almost impossible to take him down. Can't re-roll dice, can't use focus, its all luck when it comes to attacking Dark Curse. Howl Runner is also a must have to make your swarm complete. Giving everyone you fly with an advantage. I do wish this expansion was a little cheaper since you need to fly at least 4 of them to take advantage of their elusiveness

If you're flying a lot of Empire, you should probably pick one of these up for the pilots, upgrades and extra cannon fodder. If you're just looking for extra TIE models, and haven't gotten an extra core set yet, you might want to do that instead. Or you can pick up the TIEs in the new Gozanti set coming out soon.

The tie swarm is one of the favorites in the tournaments. It takes discipline and strategic planning to dominate with a swarm. If you are a fan its definitely worth buying this ship and a second core set. This will give you 5 ties to dominate the space. Each pilot is cheap and has an advantage of being in a swarm.

These ships are like mosquitoes. They have very little hull but can be very annoying in battle. The model is nice. Named pilots make them dangerous. Since they're low cost ships that are meant to be flown in swarms I feel like the $ price should be lower than other ships. Would make buying 6 more of these guys a little easier.

After you start off with the Core Set, this is a good buy, especially if you want to start building the classic TIE Swarm squad. The upgrade card Swarm Tactics allows for a larger number of low skilled pilots to shoot sooner than later.
