This is a high quality chair inspired by the iconic chair originally created for the Pavilion of German Representation at the 1929 Universal Exhibition in Barcelona, Spain. Our exhibition chair was inspired by the Mies van der Rohe lounge chair known the world over as the Barcelona Chair Shown here with Espresso Brown leather, our frame is constructed from premium grade solid bar stock stainless steel. All joints are fully welded, sealed, and seamless. The frame is hand-polished to a mirror finish. Four snaps attach the back cushion to the frame 2 snaps and a belt attach the bottom cushion to the frame. The cushion surfaces consist of 40 individual top-grain leather panels each piece is cut and hand-sewn using a hand-rolling welting technique not found in other similar chairs on the market. The seat and back cushions are filled with high resilient - high density polyurethane foam that is CAL117 flame test rated. The cushions are supported by heavy saddle leather straps riveted to the frame and whose top and side edges match upholstery color. Front and top corners of the cushions have no exposed seams. Compared to the other similar chairs on the market, ours is much more comfortable

The stainless-steel frame is flawless, the leather is outstanding quality and smells so good, I’m 100% satisfied with my purchase. As stated below in previous reviews, the snap buttons are a little hard to snap, but they are made very well. My order was processed and shipped promptly and well-packaged. “The metal frame is extremely well made, beautiful and substantial. The chair is comfortable, and the leather is nice. The issue is that no matter how hard we try, we are unable fasten the snaps that hold the back cushion to the frame. As a result, the cushion won’t stay in place. Frustrating for the maker to get so many difficult-to-deliver things so right and one typically simple thing so wrong...”

Hi Carrie - Yes, the snaps can be a bit tricky to snap. We use industrial strength, marine grade stainless steel snaps. They are meant to stay snapped during use. The only way to explain how to snap is: Do one snap at a time, line up the two sides and squeeze together with strong fingers or with the palm of your hands, one hand on the frame and the other hand pressing against the leather. “My rating above speaks for everything about the pair of chairs I ordered from you -- the frames, cushions and leather. And, they are a perfect fit in my living room. I looked at a few other Barcelonas on the web prior to ordering yours, some cheaper and some higher priced, and didn't see anything that I thought compared. Well, maybe the Knoll "original" but I think it was 4-5 times more expensive. Thank you!”

“Very happy with my two Barcelona chairs from Modern Classics. I requested, and promptly received, leather swatches for the colors I was considering, the ordering process was seamless and my chairs arrived promptly, well-packaged and in flawless condition. And there’s a great selection of leather colors to choose from. I have two Knoll “licensed” Pavillion chairs in my other home and these from Modern Classics are constructed as well as those. Side-by-side, you’d be hard pressed to notice any difference.”
