“I use the mobile version of this breathalyzer 4-5x per day and find it to be consistent and reliable. Occasionally it takes the video awhile to load, but 90% of the time it uploads right away. Word of caution - make sure you follow the directions to not eat or drink anything for 15-20 min before testing because it's not lying when it says police grade - it can come up .01 if you're not careful about this. I'm using this for a custody case and would recommend it to anyone who needs it for that reason. It's more affordable than some of the competitors and does the job.”
“This app has been awesome for my son and I. While in alcohol rehab, my son became aware of this app and suggested that he and I use it as an accountability tool for him.
It has been great. Easy to use, I feel confident that it's accurate, and I can easily see a video of him using the breathalyzer.
I use the option where the app randomly sends him a request for a breatherlizer test 3 times a day. Then it automatically sends me a text with the results and with a link to the video of him using the breathalyzer. You can customize the timing and frequency of the tests.
I think it gives him a sense of accomplishment and it definitely makes me feel more at ease knowing he hasn't been drinking. We have been using it for more than 3 months now and I think it's contributed to his success.”
“I'm voluntarily using bactrack in a current custody dispute to put allegations of alcoholism to rest. I must say it works really well, almost too well! The only positive result I had was when I placed my bactrack device in the door of my vehicle directly on top of a small bottle of cologne. After retrieving the device and testing, I was shocked to receive a .012% reading. I immediately tested 2 more times and they both came back positive, I then had my 10 year old test because at that time I could not understand how it was reading positive. He also tested positive with the exact same result. I then had my girlfriend test, she tested negative. Then I tested again and it came back negative. I then had my 10 year old test again and it came back negative (9 minutes after his positive result. My negative result was 11 minutes after my previous positive result. I had everyone in the house blowing in this thing trying to figure out what was going on. After a couple phone calls and some research, I realized that my cologne bottle had cause these false positive results.
My biggest gripe is not the "false positive" result as that actually shows how precise this product is. It's the fact that when I called to explain this, Bactrack told me that they were no doubt "false positives" as the body could not metabolize alcohol within 9-11 minutes; however, they will still show as positive test results and that there is no way for them to correct the results although we had negative test results immediately following the positive ones. There surly has to be a better way to go about a situation such as this.
Furthermore, there have been several instances of me taking a test and receiving an email and a text message that proves the test; however, the app itself doesn't show the test on the calendar.
I'm voluntarily taking this test 3X's per day to prove that I am consuming no alcohol. False positives that cannot be corrected and failure to provide accurate test times are a problem.”
