“I’m the tester with BACtrack View and I recently went through a divorce. I can’t say I was thrilled about having to do this but it has allowed me to see my kids again and be apart of their lives and that’s worth it’s weight in gold.”
“The random scheduling feature is just about useless. The only parameter that can be randomized is the time of day when a test is to occur, not the day of the week. For a monitor to set a repeating random schedule, the days when tests occur would be the same every week... and thereby very predictable for the tester. The only way around this would be for the monitor to set up a new schedule every week, which would be ridiculously cumbersome for the monitor. I contacted customer service and submitted a written proposal for a better randomization scheme. To date, there appears to be no effort made to improve the randomization features.
To make the product usable for my own use, I have developed an Excel workbook that generates a random test scheduling scheme, and it automatically sends me email notifications when a test is due. My accountability partner has password protected the workbook so I can't manipulate the schedule. This has worked well, but since the schedule is not integrated into the view app, there is not indication of a missed test in the app. The accountability partner would have to manually compare the test time history in the app to the Excel file to see if any tests had been missed.
I am rather disappointed that no action has been taken to improve this function in the app.”
“I love that my family can use this to rebuild trust. It puts my sobriety in my hands, allowing me to prove that I’m on the right track.
What I don’t like is that BACtrack takes a video of you without really disclosing that. The somewhat limited instructions/description of how it works only uses the word “video” once, way at the bottom of a page. It otherwise makes it seem like it will take a PHOTOGRAPH of you doing your test. It wasn’t until I’d been using it for a couple of months that I learned it was taking a video of me fixing my hair and finding the right lighting; like you do when you’re getting ready to take a selfie. Not only that, but it records audio for some reason. So my friend was getting videos of me fixing my hair, talking to my family, and my family having private conversations together as I’m getting ready for my “selfie.” I shouldn’t have had to find that out by my friend making jokes about our conversations! I was so confused about what they were referring to until they sent me copies of the videos they get.”

Thank you for reaching out to BACtrack Support. We definitely understand the confusion as to the video verification portion from the tester's perspective. While you only see a photo, all other parties can view the video that the tester does see while they are actually testing but it does not save the video to the tester's profile if there is a monitor on the account.

Suggestion for Improvement:
One feature that would make BACtrack even better is the ability to store test results locally on the phone when there’s no connectivity or limited app access. Later, when the app reconnects, these stored results could automatically upload and sync. This would ensure users never lose important data due to temporary connectivity issues and maintain a complete history of readings.”
