“I was apprehensive about the extra burden of using bactrack. But instead I found the app very intuitive and easy to use. The history comes in handy as well. The test device is small and a test can be done quickly and discretely.”
“Easy to use. Sometimes the connection to the phone fails and you might have to redo the test but it’s very rare. Usually if there’s a problem it’s user error. If you have to use a breathalyzer I can’t see doing much better than this. One thing for sure be careful of you eat right before testing. I had a slice of deep dish pizza right before a test and my test came back .026 and a fail. I retested 20 minutes later and it was 0.000. Although it took a lot of explaining and lawyers jump all over it with accusations of having had a drink. All turned out good in the end though.”
“The BACtrack View has been a bit of a game changer. It has helped my loved to begin re-establishing trust in three critical relationships during early recovery. It has also helped in personal accountability at a time when this is a critical component of building and establishing healthier routines.
At first, as a monitor I leaned into random or "surprise" tests. While random testing is allowed, "surprises" can be anxiety provoking (which is a trigger for many people battling addiction), and it has worked out best to have more of solid a routine for my loved one. We've come to an agreement about mulitple, consistent test times throughout the day, daily. Essentially, there isn't room by the clock for alcohol to wear off and be undetectable with the schedule we've set up.
At a time when all of our lives were pretty chaotic in the thick of our loved one's active addiction, some predictability is, honestly, probably pretty good for ALL of us.”
“100% recommend even if you’re not sure why! I have been doing backtrack for over three months now! Not because the court made me do it. But because I lost my partner’s trust after an accident, I turned to the bottle. Even though I still drink less than him it was when I drank and how I drank if you’re hiding your drink if you’re drinking to leave the house or to be around people that is a problem in itself as hard as it is to admit my partner told me I had a problem for a long time I could not see it so I chose to choose an attitude that if I don’t have a problem this will not be that hard not only will I prove it to him “I’ll show him attitude” I found that learning to live Connect and socialise without alcohol is an entirely different ball game so now I don’t really care what he thinks. I’m proving it to myself that I can do this because I’m not gonna lie it’s hard when everybody else is drunk, it is hard to want to remain in their presence when you are nervous about socialising or going out for dinner. It is hard to not do what everyone else does and buy a drink but there are so many more options than alcohol until you believe that this can be fixed by your actions which this device and app/program gives you the opportunity to do so without giving you the opportunity to lie to yourself or to cover it up be aware that within a 30 minute period avoid spraying any aerosol or chemicals as this can cause a false reading but once you have learnt how it operates and having a backup different branded device can reassure yourself and possibly your partner mine does not believe that the other one works. I actually have three different devices but the only monitoring is done Through backtrack! The device is small Into a pocket or a handbag making it discreet when your backtrack test is at a time when you are around others which is fantastic because who wants to carry around a giant look at me. I have a problem, I’m not allowed to drink, I have to prove that I’m not drinking! Also I did attend court recently in fact yesterday I wrote the magistrate a personal letter saying what I had implemented and proactively sourced myself to change my life and change my path! Backtrack HOLDS UP IN COURT And is regularly used as a mandated necessity along with many other things programs and interlock devices and test after test. The judge literally stated that because I have been so proactive and able to prove that I am alcohol free I not only got out of having to get an interlock device inserted into my vehicle for two or more years. I got congratulated by the judge himself and he said he respected me. He was so encouraging and that does not usually happen in a courtroom! So YES I 100% Recommend you choose backtrack.! And I hope your journey will soon become a worthwhile experience that opens up a whole New World a whole new year and you will soon look back and say wow I’m so glad I did this! Life will change!
