Loved the model ... built just before going to see the Statute in person. Was a great Lego and travel experience.

The LEGO architecture series are great, and the Statue of Liberty is no exception. It's definitely an expert build but worth the effort.

This is a fine architectural set. As expected, it takes a bit of time to put together with lots of little pieces (that can easily get mixed up), so it's more for a LEGO building enthusiast than a typical young person. I like the look of the base building and the wavy, draped robe. However, this set had a real challenge to try to reasonably match the curvy, detailed original. There is probably no good alternative to the flat face, but it just doesn't work for me as that such a crucial part of the look of the actual Statue of Liberty isn't there. I may try to rework it to look like it has some sort of facial feature - a nose would really help. The arm angles are a bit different also - more right angles than the original. It looks better from a distance though, so if you want a LEGO version of this bit of Americana, it will look impressive on your shelf.

The LEGO statue requires commitment and perseverance. 1685 pieces fit together nicely to make the statue. My 11 - year old son got this for his bday and went right to work. He is usually a "free lego builder" but followed through with this planned building. This is a creative project by LEGO in the way the unique pieces fit together. All the pieces were present and the instructions were good for my son to do it on his own. It is a good project of an American landmark.
