Elenco Auto-Scan FM Radio Kit Reviews

4.1 Rating 482 Reviews
My son assembled this kit as part of his Radio Merit Badge at summer camp. He and the other Scouts thoroughly enjoyed soldering them together. The instructions we very clear, but this is a pretty involved project. Once they were finished, they worked very well. Great learning project.

Buena práctica de soldadura y algunos componentes como un amplificador operacional y básicos para armar este radio con pequeños ajustes. Es recomendable.

Some people might be disappointed without a frequency display for tuning, but it is a great soldering project, and you end up with a functional FM radio. Various people have designed cases that can be 3D printed, which is a nice finish to the project.

I'll start off with the positives because it did work for me at first. I should have quit while I was ahead because I went and soldered on the last optional capacitor which made it sound terrible. When i was wicking it to remove it i accidentally pulled up one of the pads off the board. Sooo I killed it after that. Good experience though because I was wanting to learn how to solder and didn't really care if I messed up like this. Directions are very thorough. Shows how most of the components work which is valuable. Just don't expect superb sound quality from this like I did and rip off a pad by accident lol

Easy soldering project (could be completed by a kid that has already done another prior soldering project). However, radio does NOT seem to work.

I like it. No problem with assembly and I listen to it while working in my shop. It’s fun to put together and the instructions are clear. I recommend this radio kit.

Good experience for my first time soldering. It took me ordering this twice to succeed. First time I misread the instructions. What interfered with me being able to get the sound to work was I did not completely cover the holes on the back of the pc board with solder, and not tightening the antenna in. I did not hear back from the company after leaving them voicemails/emails for a week, but you can find youtube videos explaining it all.Does not come with V9 battery or screw driver.

I immediately asked for a refund when I got the radio kit in a ziploc bag. Not suitable give as a gift.
