“This was a fun way to practice my soldering and electronics skills. It was easy to put together, everything was pretty clear on how it was supposed to go. It even worked the first try. If you just need practice and like making things this is a nice kit to work with.”
“I pricked my thumb on circuit pin when holding package before opening. The pin is extremely sharp and Should not be packaged in a thin envelope. It should be packaged in a box where there is no chance of hurting yourself when opening it. Not only did I cut my finger the surprise of the gift was given away when my husband came to see what happened to my finger.”
“I'm only going to give one star for the easy assembly because if this is a project you've never done before you're likely going to end up burning up your breadboard and causing misconnections between components. But if use less heat than I did which will take you a bit longer then this should be a really good product for you to enjoy or get somebody but be sure they have a good soldering iron”
“Awesome kit. Got it for a beginner to learn to solder and he was able to assemble the radio in a bit less than two hours. The instructions are super clear and the kit comes with everything you need besides a battery and solderinb iron. I would 100% but this again.”
“Elenco is great! I had a lot of fun building this thing. I zero experience and built the digital clock and this fm radio. It works...no issues. The instructions are great. I wish it came with a case for it. I made a case for it from a Husky 4x6 plastic bix from HD., cut the appropriate holes amd padded with foam.2 weeks later. I notice that the station drifts for no reason but it has great volume. I am proud of it still.”
“First time I finished soldering everything the radio barely worked - turned out the problem was a bad solder connection beneath the battery compartment. Radio worked very well afterwards. Honestly, because of the tight battery compartment I think this product might deserve 3.5 starts, but I'll give it 4.”
“First off, I must say that I butchered my share of electronics in the past. I bought this kit to learn how to solder properly. The instructions where clear and easy to understand, I had zero problem putting the radio together. I would definitely buy again!”
“Only thing you will need for this project is a soldering iron and a 9V battery. The instructions are straight forward enough. It’s a fun project to do over the weekend. The radios clarity improves after a minute or so of operation once the capacitors charge. Overall 5 stars given cost, ease of assembly, and overall project enjoyment. Only thing is to be careful with your solder placement as some connections are close together, but are on different circuits.”
