Elenco Auto-Scan FM Radio Kit Reviews

4.1 Rating 482 Reviews
This was a great little kit--fast and easy to assemble (and I have no experience whatsoever) and it fired right up first try with plenty of stations. I also purchased a soldering iron specifically for electronics, set it to the EXACT temperature suggested and had no trouble soldering. The only things I saw people complain about can all be explained by people using the wrong soldering iron, not soldering things well (or mixing up parts/leads) and not having good reception; I live on the 7th floor of a building right near some radio stations, but I still get good reception on most channels. After reading some other reviews I really did not have my hopes up, but when it was done, it works great--listening to it right now. Planning to make an enclosure, a rechargable power source and hook up a bigger speaker. How fun!Good luck, use the right tools, and don't blame the radio if you live in the woods and get no reception. :)

Board is very low quality, solder points kept separating from the board. Also had issues with board functionality, triple checked all my work, the circuit simply did not work. Possibly defective components or perhaps the delamination issue was causing the failure. Total nightmare, would not recommend this product.

I bought as a gift for my son and it arrived in a plastic bag with no solder included. Waste of money.

Great kit for my son and I. Had fun teaching him what I know about circuits and whatnot. Radio worked great. Thrills to hear it after a couple hours of working on it together.
