“I really enjoyed assembling it as well as reading all the theory behind the radio. It was exactly what I was looking for as I was more focused in learning than just assembling it and having an FM radio. It works well as this was my first experience with electronics and soldering electronic components onto a board. If you are curious enough, you can really get out more than advertised. Highly recommend for starters and specifically, engineering and science students like me. The customer service is also superb as they answer quickly and will help you if anything goes wrong.”
“This was a very enjoyable project. The step by step directions were easy to read and understand. All the capacitors and resistors were on a card with an assigned number and value. The only challenging part was soldering the IC chip socket to the board and not bridging the pins. I was surprised the volume of sound that this little radio makes. picks up a lot of stations crisp and clear as possible for such a small speaker. I wish the company offered a case for this radio. Use a good soldering iron and smallest tip you have and enjoy.”
“Great project for my 11 year old, but a bit disappointing bc two components (led and amp chip) were defective and had to be purchased and replaced to get it to work. Not the best situation when you are trying to spark interest. But it did teach a bit of trouble shooting LOL”
“11 year old grandson and I built this radio. He pretty much did it all and I helped when needed. End item works well! Tips: READ THE MANUAL! Remember to spread one of the coils. FOLLOW THE MANUAL. Highly recommend as a good practice and learning toll.”
“Wonderful product!A little tough to assemble though but it was a fun project with my daughter. We had to make some repairs when the PCB strip would come off because we were not experienced in soldering but once we finished and after some tries and corrections it finally worked then she was overjoyed!”
“Très bien detaillé, les pieces sont bien identifiées, il y a des explications sur les deferentes composantes, aussi des tests diagnostiques aux differentes etapes, et meme des versions elternatives du montage.”
“Overall, very nice kit.Problems:No screws and nuts provided. I had to cobble together my own screws and nuts for the battery holder and the antenna. The varactor BB910 legs were mangled to the point that I could not tell the polarity. The instructions said look at the beveled edge, both edges are beveled.”
