“I liked this product for myself, however I wouldn't recommend this to new students of electronics. I would recommend starting with an easier project, such as flashlight kits or at home repairs before starting on such a solder-intensive project. The instructions were much better than expected. It had everything necessary for a teacher to use for class. If suggest reminding students that they won't understand the underlying physics behind the electronics immediately. There is alot of useful information about circuit stages and signals in the instructions, however it will fly over the head of newbies.I hope other more difficult kits will be offered!”
“The components are of good quality but the PCB board is a bit flimsy thus leading to sometimes the joints disconnecting from the board leading to undesired functionality. Was able to fix using available holes and manipulating the components.I originally bought this product for my son so that he could learn how to solder as well as a step by step instruction on how to make something functional. He was tired of me blabbering about theory. The one thing that is absolutely superb about this product are the instructions; it sounds weird but they do a good job of making everything easy as well as the explanation as to why you are connecting these components in such a way. The explanation of op-amps is perfect.”
“This radio kit has good design and easy to follow instructions, and worked like a charm once completed. The soldering pads are pretty large and easy to teach a kid to solder for the first time. The only SMT IC is already pre-soldered. It will be advisable to get some help or instructions of basic soldering skills from someone who knows.A few practical notes:1) The on/off switch and potentiometer should be installed in reverse to other components. I made a mistake of not following the instruction carefully and installed the wrong way.2) There is one capacity (next to the SMT IC) that is optional, installing it will make the sound louder. But I found the sound level is better without it.3) It is very tight to install the 9V battery: it is eventually doable but I felt almost broke the plastic holder.”
“This was a fun little project to do. The only thing is one of the. Contacts on the cct board was off so unfortunately it didn't work as expected. I purchased two and the second one works great! I just wish the other board was good and that it also worked. R5 contact was gone so I couldnt solder it to the board.”
