“The first one I bought was wasted and had to be throw away and the intention of this review is to share what I learned from the 1st kit so you don't have to buy this a second time like I did.1. The contacts you are soldering to are really bad at bonding and the pads burn off way too easily. They will provide you with lead-free solder in this kit. Do NOT use it. Buy your own solder and flux. You are going to need flux with this kit.2. Don't follow the instructions. They are way to over complicated. They want you to do things in their sequence so you can do some tests, but in the 1st test was where my first kit's 9v battery housing had it's negative connector ripped off. The second time I just did the tried and true smallest to largest component method.3. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and open up the positive connector on the 9v battery housing and the negative connector on your battery a little so when you remove your battery from the housing connectors don't get ripped off.4. Read page 11, that'll tell you about the 2 extra capacitors.Do I recommend this? I don't know, probably not. I had to buy two because my first one had critical defects that resulting me in throwing it away. I wish I had known to loosen the battery housing because it would have possibly saved me $15. I'm going to pause and think before considering an Elenco kit again. The one I successfully completed kind of works. It will tune into a station and play about 1 second and go silent so I have to do some troubleshooting now.”
“Worked for about 20 minutes, but only got 2 stations. One station was Rush Limbaugh, the other K-Love and those were not very clear until I made a tin-foil dish. The next day, nothing came in even with the foil.”
