“We purchased 10 of these kits for our IT department to get some hands on experience with soldering. We purchased the Elenco soldering kits to go along with these. The kits are decent and come with everything you'll need aside from wire cutters and soldering kits. After following along only one member of our team was able to get their radio to operate to a single local radio station. The rest of our radios just create static. Overall I'm not sure if I'd recommend this kit. Great soldering practice! May or may not function once assembled but we had a lot of fun doing these.”
“I have not finished building it yet, However on inspection all the parts are there and the instructions are very easy to follow, However I find it a little bit expensive and it does not include a case for the finished product.”
“Built this kit about a year ago to relax from work - only soldered a dozen hobby kits prior but am a fan of something practical. Nice little radio - clearer and crisper than one found in a pre-2002 Buick LeSabre.Assembly didn't have any quirks, nice large solder pads, used own solder rather than the packaged lead-free. Only finicky component is the 9v battery holder, it has trouble locking even with an average Duracell.May create a case in the future but would definitely replace the power source.”
