“This Avanti S nose wheel retract is a drop-in fit for the FW A-4 Skyhawk 80mm EDF nosewheel retract. The total length and mounting metrics are exactly the same as for the A-4 Skyhawk. This strut is a little shorter than the A-4 strut but the tire is a little taller. So the height of the front end of the jet stays the same. This retract has a 5mm strut pin versus a 4mm strut pin for the A-4 Skyhawk retract. With a bigger diameter tire, and a larger diameter strut pin, this setup is better for flights off of grass fields, which is exactly where I fly. The only mod I had to do was trim a bit of foam off the top of the nose wheel well where the larger diameter tire hits it. If you can notice, or tolerate the larger tire, if you're a scale freak, then this mod will improve the longevity of your nosewheel retract assembly. Don't let the side-by-side picture below fool you. They are the same height.”
