I only have two flights on this plane so far but I’m loving it. My only issue so far is that the control throws in the manual seem very high. I switched to my low rates that are 50% of the manual values and it flies great now.

INITIAL THOUGHTS and PERKS - This plane for me is one for the books. It's sleek design, beautiful details, and impressive handling make it all the better for me. This plane comes with so many pros especially in the 80mm field it is quite unbelievable. There is far enough battery tray space to even fit a 6000mah battery in there. The L-39 is quite a large 80mm spanning almost 1400mm when most 80s in this range go from 1100-1300mm in length. Not even that solely, this plane is very large in its body and it makes it quite awesome to have around because who really doesn't want a big plane in the long run. Also some of the most impressive features come within its wheels, light system, and speed. This planes tires are rubber which is a huge pro on any surface giving it far more grip and suspension that foam tires or Styrofoam tires. Also with the wheels the suspension is amazing in every aspect and it seats nicely on any surface from grass to concrete. WITH THE LARGER SIEZE OF THE WHEELS THIS MAKES FOR THE PLANE TO BE A PERFECT GRASS RUNWAY EDF JET! The lights on this plane to are awesome with synchronized landing lights that activate when the gear are down as well as the day bright wing light leds. One of the other serious pro I can involve without making this review to long is the speed. I clocked this plane coming out of a dive at 130MPH!!!. And once I did it with a large tailwind and I got 140MPH!!!! Also this plane has the ability to aerobatics without having any issues. Final thing this thing is ON RAILS!!!!!! It settles in so nicely for anything you are doing from fast passes to low flying. With this plane somehow better than any other I can hold about 3-6 inches off the ground without it thinking twice it just settles in and stays there it is absolutely awesome.FLIGHT AREA AND LANDING/TAKEOFF - This plane might need a larger field but when pushing it I can takeoff in 100-120 feet and around 200-300ft on landing. I would however recommend having at least 200ft to takeoff and 350ft to land. Just in case anything goes wrong I always like to have backup space. This plane definitely carries a lot of weight down the runway and from my opinion I recommend landing on grass because I usually stop comfortably on it. BATTERY AND FLIGHT TIME - I use a liperior 6s 5000mah battery and I usually get 2:40 out of it. Though I fly open throttle a lot for aerobatics and just fast flying if you slow it down you might be able to pull anywhere from 3:00-3:30 depending on your flying style. Also take this next part with a grain of salt but the battery tray in the plane is large enough to possibly fit a 6000mah though I am not big into fitting massive batteries into planes they are not necessarily meant to be in.NEGATIVES - There is only one negative to this plane. On elevator I run 50% throw with 40% expo and it still has this issue but on landing sometimes on random the elevator especially with flaring, can cause the nose to rise a lot more that what you would want. I fly many jets and this plane seems to be specific and it usually and most definitely isn't super threatening but sometimes coming in when you are about to grease a landing it lifts a lot more than it should in a flare. This isn't an oscillation issue or a speed issue either it just happens sometimes. Also with inverted flight this plane tends to need a lot more opposite elevator than most planes.CONCLUSION- This is by far my favorite plane in my fleet and it has so many positive attributes to it. The large size, fast speed, and good gear make it comfortable for grass strips and mid sized fields. Aerobatics in this plane is perfect and it flies absolutely on rails. I would solidly recommend this plane to anyone. Also just had to note it again but this thing can hold low flight like no ones business. Being able to hold 3-6 inches off the ground has never been easier.Note: Feel free to ask me question I will be sure to answer!!! Happy Flying!!!!!!!!

So i bought this nice looking L-39.The big box came and the plane inside looked nice, a little sloppy paint job on mine. The plane vent together quickly in a very short time just like the manual stated. When it was time for the rx the problems started. I got 4 twitchy servos and on the first taxi test i got RSSI critical at 40 meters and Telemetry lost at 45 meters. My rx is a Frsky S8R that came from another flying plane and there had been no problems with that rx. Funny thing, when i moved the rx away from the MCB-E box inside the airplane the servos stopped twitching. I contacted support and they told me that if i had problems with the MCB-E box the best solution was to bypass the MCB-E box. They also told me that a new MCB-E won't fix the problem and that the MCB-E box did not play well with all radio systems.MotionRC know that there are problems with the MCB-E box, but they are not fixing it. They have done nothing to try and fix the issues i got with my L-39. They closed my support ticket with out a solution for my problems. At the end of the day i took the MCB-E box out of my airplane and build a new harness connecting everything direct to the rx. I am not too happy with the fact that i bought the PNP version and i had to rebuild the electrical system to be able to fly it. I mean PNP is supposed to be exactly that PNP.I also tried my Hitec Aurora 9 radio with a Optima 7 rx in the L-39, servos stopped twitching and the retracts and rudder and nose gear steering stopped working. That is two different radio systems that does not work on the MCB-E box. I know from reading online that there are two series of Spectrum rx´s that MotionRC dose not recommend with the MCB-E box...At the end of the day, the L-39 is a very very nice airplane to fly. Take of is easy and landings are also easy for a jet... Flying the airplane is a joy, it does every trick in the book of jets...But you might want to think twice before you buy this one, the MCB-E box might or might not work with your radio system. I might work the first 10-20 flights and then start to act up, i know that is the case for some pilots flying this MCB-E box. Or it might just work. It is russian rulet with a full magazine...

The Freewing L39 is such a nice flying and nice looking model that I bought this one for a spare in my fleet. We opened the box at the field for show and tell. As usual the construction and detail is fantastic. Super strong one piece wing with super robust landing gear. Just a great grass field jet. Awesome paint and graphics as well. Set up with the new HP9 blade is another plus. A powerful and very efficient inrunner providing excellent flight times that I am familiar with in some of my other Freewing birds. I'm still flying the Camo version (also looks fantastic) with the old outrunner power that just growls. I love it. Its true it flies just like an Avanti. Fantastic low passes and aerobatics then sits into full flaps perfectly with some power in and comes in for perfect landings every time. Just Fantastic at dusk with landing lights. Cant say FANTASTIC enough . Definitely one of the best offerings from Freewing. Thank you Motion . Tim

If you are looking to step up to a 80mm edf Jet I would highly recommend checking out the L-39. This is easy to fly and has great flying characteristics. The gear is very durable and will takeoff from grass with no issues at all. Great Jet and well worth the money!

In short, I love it. Go buy one and don't think twice. This was my first EDF. I got 9 uneventful flights on it before a crashed due to my own fault. It was easy to assemble for a non-builder like myself. It was very stable and by the second flight I was doing loops and rolls with comfort. I flew it with a AR630 receiver with the gyro on for the maiden. I had a bit of yaw oscillation with low gains set. With the gyro off I had very slight oscillation due to gusty conditions in the tree top level. The landing was very straight forward. With a little power on final it settled into a nice stable decent with a gently landing flare. With the low speed stability I would easily recommend this an intro jet. My crash was due to disorientation. Flying too far out in formation with all the others on FPV. Gladly purchased the second.

The airplane flies very good, very easy to fly but I expected it to be faster and a bit more aggressive than it actually is. It uses a lot of runway especially on landing, it rolls forever, I will be looking at adding some brakes in the near future
