“Bought this L39 second hand off a guy for not a lot of money as it’s a few years old. Wow, what a plane! I’ve had loads of EDFs previously and they’ve all had good and bad points but this L39 beats them all. It’s a real hot ship so you have to wind down the throws but it looks good and flies great. The Avanti and Venom were good but they did bounce easily on grass and eventually the gear gives way, this model just doesn’t do that and sits down nicely with no tendency to bounce.
You need quite a bit of flap for take off , if you’re flying off grass.”

“Only had one flight so far, but very promising. Very stable and smooth. The flaps are not enormous, but they slow it down nicely for landing. I have added a tiny bit more down elevator compensation as I prefer to have to pull back slightly on the stick when landing. We fly from short grass, which it managed ok but quite a long run. I think some flap might help. Despite being completely different it feels very similar to the Avanti in the air. Very happy so far.”
