I miss the slats, but their absence makes the plane lighter and less wing loading - easier to land. A great flying aircraft

This is a review of Version 2 (no slats) of the Freewing Goshawk T-45. I have not flown the jet yet. This is simply a first impressions and assembly review. Overall it is a nice airplane but a bit over-priced IMHO. The stand-off appearance is excellent and assembly is very easy and quick. The instructions are typical Chinese but fortunately assembly is easy. However, closer inspection revealed the following:1. The paint lines between the red and white color on each wing panel are very fuzzy, especially the right wing; i.e. there is red overspray on the white. I will fix this by having my local paint store mix up a paint match to the white and then paint over the red overspray. Fixable but annoying to have to deal with.2. The full scale plane has flying stabs and the model has fixed stabs with elevators. Not a big deal to me.3. The nose gear has a significant amount of play when in the lowered position. I fly off of grass so this concerns me a little.4. There is only one battery strap and it is located too far to the rear of the battery compartment. I added a second strap forward of the original strap.5. The main gear springs seem to be much too weak because the gear bottoms-out simply under the weight of the aircraft. This is a significant concern to me and I am going to investigate the possibility of replacing the existing springs with stiffer springs. 6. Two of the main gear doors sag slightly when the gear is retracted. I don't see a way to easily adjust this. Yes, I am probably being too picky.7. The tail hook has a significant warp but you don't notice it after installation unless you are looking for it.8. One of the front gear doors sagged when the gear was retracted but the push-rod was accessible and I was able to adjust the sag to a tighter fit.9. The main landing gear struts are equipped with two doors attached to each strut.....a large upper door and a smaller lower door. When the gear is retracted, the lower door on the left side strut is badly misaligned with the wheel well opening in the bottom of the wing. The lower doors are screwed to the struts and there is no way to adjust them. This bugs me.So, of all the items listed above, I believe that number 5 (weak gear springs) absolutely has to be corrected before flying the model.

Power and performance of this new T 45 GosHawk is excellent. I fly from a field that is 5,240 plus MSL. When OAT is above 75 degrees density altitude go take us to above 8,000 MSL. The version of the GosHawk has plenty of excess power for our altitude. If you happen to live closer to sea level hold on to your hat!!

Nice Jet! V2 has no slats, removes some of the scale appeal but lot lighter. few things you should double check. ride side hinges, 2 were not glued in, had to remove aileron and redo. wing has moulding bubbles, I know it’s cosmetic but this is year 6 of production of this model. wish they would do full moving elevators, like the real thing. overall nice model.

My friends who have the earlier version say the plane is heavy and prove to stalling. But they were amazed at my new version. It is possible to stall this one on a really slow turn but 1/2 throttle keeps it safely above stalling. The decal set is great for making other planes look like the T 45. For instance the Red HSD 105 mm Superviper and the freewing redhawk 70 mm. I ever painted my Taft Yellow Valkyrie and added the decals. Good looking and good flying EDF

I live close to motion no problem with delivery. I assembled it the next day, installed the receiver set up transmitter went to the back yard for some testing handled well more test and realized one the elevator had stopped working. On investigation I found one elevator wire had been sucked into the fan unit, So I made a ticket with Motionrc I have not herd from them yet, but I found a Y cable in my spare parts and fixed the cut cable.
