“im building my 3rd F14, the first was underwhelming with the original EDFs and ESCs. Hardly any vertical, no chance to takeoff from gras and completely killing my 6S5200 packs in 3:30mins.
The second got the MIG29 EDFs and ESCs and it completely transformed the model! takeoff straight into a near vertical climb, akkus lasting now 5;30 because you can actually throttle back. THIS is the way the F14 should perform.
Aluminium gear servos also improved longevity the original servos are to weak for a Jet this size/weight”

“I need power system, servos, wing swing upgrades, EDF and ESC upgrades. Servo upgrades. Swing wing and landing gear upgrades need to accomplish all of this before I fly the aircraft and seal the entire aircraft before I fly at the first time it’s a project went from a $500 jet to a $1100 jet but I think it’s still worth it because it’s absolutely beautiful Trying to find out from two brothers all the upgrades that I need for this aircraft. I wish there was a list of needed upgrades, too stabilize and tough in this airframe. Would appreciate any help that you could give me. I’ve already got the ETFs that I’m going to buy. I just need the ECS. I’m wanting to go with 120 amp with reverse. I’m trying to figure out what is the best way to go and can I fit a 90 mm EDF in this 80 mm aircraft two 90 mm instead of two 80 mm ???”

“Overall I love this plane, with wings out flies like a trainer, aileron needs to be dialed down for wings swept. However flies great. Build time is definitely way more than 2 hours, my first 1 took me 3 months, built a second one for my friend which took 3 weeks. Be very particular and detail oriented around the controls, having to do minimal trim really helps this plane fly well in both wing configurations.”

“This was a sister to several other Freewing F-14s that I have built and flown. This is the ARF version with no power system as I have used several different ones in these airframes other than stock. It is NOT a beginner airplane and requires patience when building and setting it up to get it right. Stock it is a great plane if you have a nice, paved runway but can more than benefit from some readily available upgrades that can be purchased from alternate sources or done yourself. Especially if you are a grass flier like I am. The model is an excellent flying airframe and looks incredible in the air. Once it's dialed in you can hit the carrier deck every time. The one drawback is the retract units for this plane could be beefier. Although they are used in several other large Freewing birds there is not a lot of energy dispersal for these and they wont take a lot of abuse. Still hoping for a good aluminum drop in upgrade. Otherwise great model!”
