“There's just nothing like this F-14. Anytime I fly it anywhere, everyone stops and watches the whole flight. I grew up watching Top Gun, so of course I had to repaint mine to recreate Maverick and Goose's Tomcat (with help from Callie Graphics). This plane is the dream. You MUST have respect for the complexity, weight, and speed of this jet if you want to be able to enjoy it. This is NOT one for beginners. My hands still shake a bit after each successful landing of this plane. She lifts gracefully from the ground in about 200' of runway with half flaps; with no-flap takeoffs, expect to need 300' or more. I put the time in to program full-span flaps in pursuit of the slowest possible ground speed for landing. I highly recommend viewing RCGeek's YouTube video about setup if you plan to do the same. With calm winds it takes every bit of 250' of ground roll after touchdown to get her stopped, but I may be guilty of coming in a little hot to avoid stalls on short final (not to say the jet is prone to them, but with full-span flaps, there's not much of a warning wag before a wing would drop). With the wings out, this plane is very docile and predictable. It's a little slippery on the roll access with wings back. I've got an Eagle gyro on the way to help with that. Freewing did a fantastic job of achieving wing sweep without it negatively affecting the CG! That being said, CG is EVERYTHING with this plane. High speed low passes are awe-inspiring with the wings back! I fly pairs of 6S 4500 45C and 6S 5000 50C packs in mine, getting 3:10 and 3:30 flight times with 33% battery left consistently - you'll be VERY glad to have enough battery for a go-around or three!! On a side note: I recommend putting Nerf football whistles just behind the fan shrouds to produce a surprisingly realistic turbine sound. It'll really add some cool factor! In summary, if you absolutely love the F-14 and approach this plane with respect for its flight characteristics and put great care into the workload involved in dialing it in, you'll be greatly rewarded with flying the jet of your dreams!THANK YOU Freewing and MotionRC for making this dream a reality for so many of us!!! You guys are the best!!”

“I've Always been a fan of the Tomcat, as they were built 12 miles from where I live. I have good friends who have designed, built, flight tested and flew into battle this last of the great Cats! Thank you motion for making it possible to fly such a great replica! It was a pleasure to build and put on an honorary repaint for a friend.”

“I have flown this beauty 7X on the stock setup. First off you would buy this because it's an F-14 and it's a big beautiful bird! It flies incredibly well for being so heavy and large. I did use RC Geeks recommendations on using bigger batteries (5000mah- 5200) and remove foam to move batteries all the way back.Wings extended: roll rate is great, no coupling, speed is great, use energy management, its fast and will build up speed not necessarily as a result of excess thrust (welcome to EDF's). Lands very well I have 2" of travel on landing flaps and roll out is not an issue. Refer to "RC Geek" settings and info on swept wing operation. Stock: the roll is rather twitchy but I can live with it. Not mentioned by RC Geek is the rearward movement of CG (center of lift moves rearward) with wings folded. Not such a big deal, I just have to push down a bit because plane wants to climb a bit with wings folded. Overall, extremely happy with this F-14! I think the design and thought put into the plane are inspired and cost effective to consumer. Yes, it would be better if the stock control board made spoilers into the ailerons during swept mode but I can live with it. Not a gyro guy but I would recommend using an gyro for roll while in swept mode. Either way well done Freewing on this bird!”

“This model is very detailed and looks great...The best part is when I ordered it from motion I received no hassles and it arrived sooner than I expected. The rep. cleared up any questions I had. Thanks Brad...”

“The plane is awesome. It is the most complicated plane I’ve ever owned so I had to become an expert on mixing. The plane was missing the tip of the nose and one other plastic detail part. Also one of the LEDs and a lead off the control board for the landing gear later got stopped working. I emailed MotionRC and they didn’t even ask questions. They sent me full parts kits for the plastic detail parts and all the LEDs and a new control board because one of the many ports was bad. This is my second EDF from Motion. My 80mm F-86 was rock solid. They are a great company and I will be using them from now on. Even if you get a plane with a few problems the company will make it right without hassle.”
