“I have not had my first flight yet and still going over this big plane with a fine tooth comb. There are some great things about this plane and sadly some things that I think that could have been better. The RCGroup forum is a great place to find the items that have been found by pilots that have been building and flying these planes. The sweep wing mechanism may be the fly in the ointment on this plane. Installing them correctly and stress on the main connection point. There are first production line has some blemishes that people have notice to include mine. The dry fit is snug but the lines have gaps and are not perfect. Not a show stopper by any means. Most report of those that have flown this plane, when the CG is right is a well handle plane in the right hands with the wings in the forward position. In the sweep wing position it becomes a beast to control and the flying surfaces are very sensitive. If you looking for a iconic plane with advance flight characteristics then this plane is for you.”
“Yes, it does as is it advertised. Mine was set up stock using 2 AGA Power 5200mah 6S packs. It rotated quickly on take off. Sounded outstanding, and flew great in both configurations. This is all the tomcat goodness, with none of the experimentation.”
“In the air this is one awesome EDF. With wings extended its a trainer, easiest EDF I've flown. Sweep back the wings and the Tomcat turns into a Mr Hyde, fast, maneuveral, and exciting. The awesome thing is that everything on this jet just works perfect. That said, I've gotten used to better than average fit and finish with recent FW jets and this is not at that level. The top cover over the swing mechanism doesn't fit well, the EDF unit covers have large gaps and the white underside paint is horrible. There are other fit and finish issues that you don't notice from 5' away but these flaws are absolutely obvious...But it's still a 5 start plane. If they fix the F&F issues I'd buy a second one.”
“I can't believe I finally get a good foam F-14.My favorite jet.Yes there's others out there.I have both the Art tech(55MM) and the Starmax(70MM), but this one is so awesome. One thing I like about this is that you can actually buy spare parts, that's a plus. another thing is that it's painted Red,White, and Blue. I bought spare parts just in case, anything can happen. since I live in Michigan, I'm going to have to wait til next season, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Thank you MotionRc and Freewing for this wonderful Jet..”
“Based on another review regarding the wing pivot point, I strengthened the pivot point which is all plastic. I made a metal L bracket from the lid of a tin can. The bracket is glued to the top of the wing pivot plate and screwed to the inside wing rib (2 screws). The bracket metal is thin but does not interfere with the swing wing control arm. Hopefully this enhancement prevents the plastic wing pivot plate from breaking.”
“This jet is truly awesome. It's hard to find any F14 that flies perfect with the wings swept back, but freewing has done it again. I flew it in the evening just before the sun went down and it lit up in the sky like well, a real jet.Landed perfect with the flaps down and the front light beaming, couldn't have put on a better show for the 7th Annual jet Rally In The Valley Kingdon Air Park.I won the Best E.D.F Jet Trophy with this F14....Total EYE CANDY.....Thank you Motion RC For the best service out there, Ricky Thrower”
“Ok, this is probably one of the best airplane to build. It is almost done for you. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to finish. Now here is what you need to know the instructions are not the best (go figure). Everything in the package is closely calculated as far as build amount. They don't leave anything in addition in the event some of the parts are defective, which I found. Although if you are a builder you most likely have parts that are either exact or close. I loved the distribution board and the labeling of the wires, it made it fool proof and so very easy. Now with me I found that the control horn (plastic) for the swept wing was broken. WFT a crucial part made of thin plastic. Lucky for me I found out prior to putting in the air. Now I have to wait until MRC forwards me a new wing. Then I have the issue as to what to do with this low budget part. Looking at it, it should have been made of either carbon fiber or metal. I have a feeling they will have a lot of airplane in the round file before long, or was it just my imagination? Anyway I will report back as soon as I can get it into the air. What ever you do be sure to look at this part prior to launch and maybe made an adjustment in the build. I think I will try to at least wrap it with some carbon fiber, I don't want MRC telling me I voided the warrantee. I would have given this airplane a five star if this part was not a problem.Sincerely,Mako Smith”
