“After a few years back owning previous versions of the Tomcat finally we have an amazing EDF version of our favorite retired jet. The build took a careful 5 or 6 hours of work, it gets tricky when assembling the wings, (Tip don't forget to install both washers) The manual really didn't help during this process but it does show a diagram of how it should be installed. I couldn't wait to fly this baby so I decided to unplug the flaps and use flap switch for wing sweep instead. It took a lot of radio programing with the very basic DX 6i but I got it done. On maiden day I checked the CG and it was a bit nose heavy (preferred) was flying with 2 6s Heavy Duty 4000mah 65c Turnigy packs and the results were amazing and better than expected. I had the timer set for 2:30 took her up and had an amazing flight in 12mph winds, flew stable and no bad tendancies. The flight excellent not even one click of trims needed! I checked the lipos and surprisingly I had 60% left. I extended the flight times 4 flights later to a whopping 4 mins! I never expected this as I've seen and read reviews on short flight times. It's all about the batteries you use. I like extra high C ratings. After a few more flights I swept the wings back and she looked amazing but flew very twitchy so I will disarm allerons on my new radio when wings sweep. Overall this is my favorite flying jet, any where I go it gets all the attention. Must have if you're an advance RC Jet pilot. I even had turbine guys who fly 20K jets loving it at the field. My only gripe is that we need different squadrons like the Jolly Rodger, or Black Bunny versions. Every one who owns one has same scheme.”
“This is one EXCELLENT model! The detail and the features are second to none! Wing sweep is well thought out and implemented. Retracts are included as well as flaps and it is assembled very simply by the buyer. I actually have TWO of them because I liked the first one so much. LOL!!”
“Before each flight for a few flights check the screws/nuts/bolts holding the wings on. Do this for the first few flights at least and make it part of your regular check-out before each trip to the flying site.I was pulling the wings to repaint to the NASA high visibility scheme and when I pulled the center fuselage cover the screws and nuts holding the wings on were all loose. Probably one more flight and the wings would have come off.Great flying plane. I think that opening the cheater holes will help for take off power and for top speed. I'll report results when I try that.”
“Build was by the book .I only tweaked the elevator down to 60%. Roll out was perfect, straight down the runway with 1/2 flaps. Rotated ,pulled up gear and flaps ,made the turn and needed no trim. This plane is so easy to fly I could not believe it. I swept the wings and that makes it a little more responsive but nothing drastic. Landing was no sweat at all just keep a little power and fly it all the to wheels down. I used full flaps with speed brake. This will help bleed off your speed and the plane stays very stable .Most important is keep your speed up in the turns and on landing. You can adjust your speeds down after you get a few flights on it and get used to the plan. When in doubt more throttle.”
“What a great flying jet!!! Make sure the cg is correct(battery placement) and adjust the rates accordingly.. She flies fast and smooth and not much trimming needed. Keep her close as I almost lost her in the distance(very streamline fuselage compounded with the light gray scheme). First flight was 2:25.. Didn't sweep the wings as I'll do that on the second flight now that she's trimmed out and familiar with the way she flies. Do yourself a favor and buy this jet! Fantastic and very fun to fly...”
