“This jet truly flies great. With the wings out it flies nice and docile. Wings in, hold on tight! Unless you disable the wing ailerons by plugging them into the reciever and doing a mix (so you can fly tailerons only), it gets really touchy really fast. Other than that, mix a little up elevator with your flaps and this bird just floats right in. Well worth the purchase price!”
“I bought the Freewing F-14 Tomcat as my first EDF Jet. Yeah, I know, not the best idea, but I've wanted one for so long I decided to take the plunge into EDF Jets before i spend a lot more more and get a turbine. I've been flying RC planes for over 20 years. Nitro, Gas and now electric so I have a bit of experience with various types of fixed wing aircraft. I was super impressed with the build quality of this Freewing plane. Quality was top notch, everything fit together as it should and the build went relatively quickly. I was nervous about flying it at first so I read everything I could and went out to YouTube and watched hours of videos on this aircraft. This was especially helpful in getting the control settings correct for swept wing flight as there are a couple folks out there that will supply you with the data file to load into your transmitter to correct a few quirks with this plane in swept wing flight. My goal was to get the feel for the aircraft before I tried anything fancy so for the first 6 flights I kept the wings extended to get the feel for the plane and adjusted the trim and COG as necessary on the aircraft. First flight in swept wing mode went very well and the aircraft was stable, but a little sensitive at lower speeds. Flying it at about 3/4 throttle and it flies great. Only issue with this aircraft is that it doesn't take off or land very well on grass unless it's as short as a putting green. Ideally your RC club would have a paved runway. All in all I'm happy with this plane. I think my next jet will be the F-16 :)”
“I want to begin this by saying that none of what I'm about to say should reflect onMotion RC because they are a great company. This is simply a bad product. The instructions tell you how to put it together without too much difficulty but they give you no instruction at all on the proper setup especially when in the sweep back configuration. It is a beautiful airplane to look at and when the wings are out it is relatively stable to fly. And that is likely how I will continue to fly mine until I finally turned it into a smoking hole in the ground. Being at high altitude reference 6000 feet above sea level this plane simply just does not have what it takes to be a good flyer. If your flying field is at any significant altitude above sea level there are much better options out there. Freewing had a great idea with this one but it is simply not a good plane. I would not recommend this aircraft.”
