“This is the best model I have ever seen. The detail of this flying legend is right on. The wing box is so well laid out and the overall look is perfect. Lighting is great as well as the decals. As for Motion RC the same. I will never go anywhere else for my RC needs. One thing to Freewing. Please think about putting this beautiful bird out in the Jolly Rogers VF-85 or VF-103 paint and decal lay out. I will order one on the spot. Mike.”
“I can't say enough about the quality of this bird Freewing has a homerun on their hands. However, she's seems a little underpowered with the outrunners don't know if your inrunners are going to make that much difference again the technology just isn't here for the battery efficiency yet in the economy EDF market. If that happens anytime soon this plane will be awesome. A couple of hi efficiency HET inrunners with HET 9305 or Wemo 4 or 5 blade rotors might do the trick. Average flight times would still be in the 3+ minute envelope but much faster. Ah but that 12 blade sound..... that is it right? Captivating. Giving 5 stars because I knew exactly what I was buying. No fault of Freewing or Motion RC.”
“I got this plane around Christmas and planned to fly it per the instructions provided. After doing more homework I concluded I wasn't flying with ailerons, I 12ided to do spoilers and tailerons. The flight didn't happen for nearly 3 months before the weather cooperated. Overall I am pleased with the finish, other than the wing cover and very satisfied with the way the maiden went. I did a two phase maiden, the first phase was wings out, second phase wings tucked. I used the recommended batteries and also flew with the armament loaded.I provided a little video of the maiden flight.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojR3lkq__Ks Looking forward to the next outstanding model from Freewing. Thanks MotionRC”
“I bought the Advance model $579.00.I'm not sorry that I undertook this project. It has challenge the model builder side of my personality, approximately 60 years of model building. This model is not for a beginner. It has advance engineering in it's design and is well worth the time to assemble and have up and functioning as advertise. Take your time when assembling.”
“I have not flown mine yet. Everything is looking good though. This is mostly a response to someone's previous review. Someone having difficulty getting the cover over the wing swing mechanics to sit down low enough not to have a ridge behind the cockpit.Pretty much as I expected, its the wire routing. ANY wire out of place can block the cover from going on correctly. There is a bundle of a LOT of wires in the area right behind the cockpit.Wires for:11 servos3 retractsJumpers from the multifunction board to the RX8 LED leads, ESC control wiresMain power wires for the 2 EDFs (10 gauge)BEC wires (09arate from the ESCs) And the BEC itselfAll passing through a narrow space. And its a LOT more wires than most people will have dealt with before. (fortunately most are already plugged in when the model arrives)If anything about the wires is wrong they can block the cover from installing correctly. Don't force it. You should be able to lightly press the cover in place. If not, adjust the wires.”
“I havent flown my second F-14 because im waiting for resolution of my first F-14's esc fire on takeoff clame. Please note this jet is amazing enough that even though i had one of my ESC's catch fire on takeoff and causing it to crash simmalar to the movie TopGun where Goose dies once the jet got off the ground. Pleas note i am Not talki g trash on motion rc, freewing or this jet. This jet is amazing and motion rc and freewing are working on a resolution of the damages from this situation. I.love the freewing product infact, i have the 90mm F-16 Thunderbird, the 90mm F-15 and now two F-14's. If you have the money BUY THIS JET!!! You can find the maiden and the 3rd fligh of after the jet was repaired at my expense on my youtube.Watch Freewing F-14 3rd flight. (After ESC fire/crash) on YouTubehttps://youtu.be/Tovc4LegVak”
“I fell in love with this plane the moment I saw it. Not because of the F-14 Tomcat itself (I can take it or leave it) but because I wanted something different. And boy, does this fit the bill. The quality of the kit is impressive and you really get a lot for the money. This is definitely not for beginners and probably not a good idea for intermediate pilots with not a lot of experience. Having good radio programming skills are a must because while the preinstalled mixing board does a lot of the hard work for you, other mixes are necessary for the best flight experience.Do yourself a favor and take your time during assembly. You will be rewarded with a successful and enjoyable first flight. Take your time!!”
“First I'd like to thank the guys and gals at Motion RC for excellent customer service and even better products. This model is my first EDF and it did not disappoint. As far as the fit and finish, I really can't complain, as it is a foam model in which most of the assembly is completed for you. My box contained all of the necessary hardware in order to get her flight ready. Over the years of building various models I've amassed a 12ent collection of miscellaneous hardware. Freewing has produced a quality product that is plenty fast, especially when I'm swept wing mode. Swept mode requires a delicate touch. I've found that flying it on slower rates than listed in the manual to be of great help when in swept mode. If I may offer a suggestion to Freewing, that they allow the option of full span flaps at the control board and aileron spoiler assist when in the unswept modes. A few guys have accomplished this by some creative programming. Thank you to Freewing for creating a great product and to Motion RC for offering this awesome model. As a veteran I truly enjoy supporting a fellow veteran's business! The maiden can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/wa0gzhZGZa4”
