“The F-4 has good detail and flys great, the landing gears are very robust and it handles grass with ease. The fit and finish are outstanding and it goes together easily. I use takeoff flaps and full flaps on landing with the recommended flap/elevator mix but I dialed the rates down from what the manual recommends. I have my CG at 185mm and it is very stable through the whole flight envelope.”
“The Freewing F4D Phantom turned out to be my new best plane! First off, the build was relatively easy. Just pay attention to the details. Second, flying the maiden was wonderful. I have 4 flights on it so far and once the trims and CG were dialed in, this model is truly stable. I appreciate the fact that it looks scale in the air. Take off happens with a little more power than you would be used to on an EDF of the same size, but landing is something to do with power and flare. You can grease it on if you just hold the nose up a bit and carry power all the way to the runway. This is a must have! If you are sitting on the fence, buy it! Get one to show off at the flying field.”

“I have probably bought a container load of Freewing jets from MRC over the years but this F4 is hands down, the nicest one to come along! It is a pleasure to assemble and everything fits and works perfectly. The lights are bright enough to see in the day time adding a little better visibility to the camo that really does work...lol I basically set the throws by the book but added a 2 mm more up for neutral flight and went a couple more on the full flap / up mix. It really does need the mix! Don't forget that step. I found the ailerons to be very effective, so 25% was added to dampen sensitivity around neutral. Elevator is soft and does not require any expo. She cruises surprisingly well at 50 - 60% throttle and has plenty of push for some vertical. The stock set up works very well. Surprisingly, I found the bird to be even more stable in flight with the full ordenance set attached. Just remember to keep up some speed on the base to final leg when at full flap. She looses speed and altitude very quickly once you come off throttle which makes it very, very easy to pin point your touchdown. If I were to have one comment...I would say that the decals have become a weak point with Freewing. They have considerable fogging, sometimes don't even stick and this one had spelling errors and lettering backwards. I use Callie's graphics for many of my models anyway, so replacement sets are not too much an issue. Nevertheless, the decal quality falls short of an other wise superb product and excellent value for the money.”

“The f 4 phantom disappointed me as compared to the many Freewing jets I own which I love. To begin with, one can barely get 3 minutes of flying with throttle management using a 5500 mah Gens ace battery. My F4 needed allot of right aileron trim. She does not feel solid in the air even when moving the CG forward. I feel Freewing overpriced this Jet compared to the other 80 mm and 90 mm jets they sell. I wish I hadn't bought it. On the positive side, she is beautiful.”

“I own 9 Freewing jets now, and this one absolutely knocks it out of the park. Incredible build quality, performance, and flight characteristics on this gem. Easily the best flying (speed/acceleration/climb rate/stability) of any 90mm I own or have flown. MotionRC and Freewing have developed the top of the line in 90mm EDFs with this jet.”

“I've got three flights on my F-4 and I love it! It went together easily and flies really nice. Follow the manual for control rates and flap to elevator mix and you'll be fine. the elevator needs to be at 8mm up for it's neutral position. I also found that doubling the flap to elevator mix worked better for me. CG was spot on in the manual and required no trim for flights at 3/4 throttle.”
