The purchase experience was smooth and easy from start to finish. Shipping was faster than expected, which was a great surprise. I’m still putting the aircraft together, but the product quality looks very high so far and it is definitely a great-looking jet. I’m really looking forward to getting it in the air.

Greatly improved from the original. Better power. More prefab already done. Flies really well

What a lovely representation of this legacy jet. My all-time favorite. I did upgrade the flap servos to Hitec for piece of mind, otherwise it’s a 10. With the AS3X+ receiver it’s entirely locked in. Great presence in the skies. One of Freewing’s classics.

This iconic Blue Angels EDF looks and sounds great in the air. Assembly is quick and easy. The 90mm EDF creates a lot of thrust. The jet flies somewhat heavy, but maneuvers are crisp and very natural looking. For flying difficulty, I would rate this intermediate: not an easy first EDF but also not the most difficult. I reliably 3 minutes from a 6S 5200mAh pack. I added afterburners to it for extra realism. Take the time to practice and this will be one of your favorite jets.

I love this jet. This is my second one now to no fault of freewing. I do have to say the paint quality is lacking and has gone down hill since the first jet I purchased. The stripes on the sides are painted and finished in stickers. The canopy lines aren’t straight. Just my 2 cents.

This jet was everything I hoped it would be. The quality is top-tier, the details are lovely, and it is FAST. I cannot over-emphasize how fast it is. (NOT a beginner EDF in case that’s not obvious). My favorite thing about this jet is how it handles. I flew F-18s in the Navy and I can tell that this plane has many of the flying qualities of the real jet. The pitch authority, the way it builds up angle of attack in medium-speed turns, and the way the tail oscillates when performing fast aileron rolls are similar to what the real jet does. I guess that speaks to how closely Freewing got this airframe to the actual jet. Again, I don’t think you’re going to find better details on an EDF. Heck even the intakes make a distinct howl at speed, just like the real jet is famous for. YouTube “F-18 howl.”It’s not perfect though. It has the minute surface imperfections here and there, which you’d expect with any EDF. It is still at or near the top in terms of quality. It easily passes the 10-foot test (meaning you can’t notice any imperfections from 10 feet away, even if you’re looking). It’s still a little inherently nose-heavy. I had to cram my electronics as far back as they’d go, so that I could get my battery as far back is it would go to get it to balance. Make sure you nail the CG the manual calls for. The gear look great and I’m really happy free wing was able to make them look as close to the real hornet landing gear as I’ve ever seen on an RC model, but the downside is that the main gear sit quite narrow. I understand that replicating the wider stance on the real F-18 is prohibitively complex, and even if they did manage to do it, I’d constantly be worried about it malfunctioning. That being said, **be very ginger with nose-wheel steering on take off.** On the maiden flight when nothing was trimmed up yet, holy crap I almost scraped BOTH wing tips trying to make it track straight. It’s much better once the elevators are trimmed up and they take weight off of the nose-wheel as the plane accelerates. But be careful on the maiden flight. The most notable miss here is that manual instructions were not very clear, and it is unfortunately obvious that it’s straight out of the factory in China. It really reads like it was sent through google translate from mandarin to English. It really is tough to understand what they’re trying to say in places. They combine too many steps in the pictures, and they never actually differentiate what type of screw I’m supposed to use and where. And there ARE multiple different screw types. I had to use trial and error to figure out what screws went where. It also came with two blue plastic pieces and like 8 unused screws, and the manual doesn’t say anything about where they go. They aren’t on the inventory list, nothing…Small side-note, my right elevator servo was bad out of the box. Motion RC processed my issue and had a free replacement on the way within two hours of me contacting them. Outstanding customer service. TLDR: Buy this plane if you’re even thinking about it.

Nice jet overall. Changed out stabilator servos went with elevons on as3x+ good high alpha lander. Be careful using to much flaps it will dump a wing take a bit to recover. Very speedy looks great in the air.
