GT Power Aircraft Lighting System Reviews

4.7 Rating 88 Reviews
It's an okay product for the most part, but I wished the flashing anti-collision strobes flashed slower and more scale-like like a majority of real life airplanes where the strobe lights flashed every 1 to 1.5 seconds. Also, the wires were too short for something advertised to fit 40 wingspan airplanes.Other than that, it's an okay product. At least it works.

These lights are everything i could've hoped for and more.Easy to install, and very bright at night. My PZ T-28 looks like a real airplane in the night sky with many flights on them now.Just don't do what I did and fly the plane too far out away from you because I got disorented and crashed it. Completely my fault. But the lights still worked at the crash site, and made it real easy to find in the dark.My wing span is 44 inches and I had just enough wire to do the wingtip lights so you'll need to add wire to anything bigger than a park flyer.I give 2 thumbs up as far as quality and ease of installation. That could always get more complicated depending on your plane though. I just used the servo wire tunnels in the wings and had to cut them out further for landing lights and wingtip lights, but still easy to do...I will most definately use these again on more planes I want to fly at night......Thank you Motion RC. Your the best, and Happy Veterans Day !!!

I purchased this light set about 10 months ago. When I got them I tried them out and they worked fine it seemed. The set didn't fit the plane I bought them for (Parkzone Sport Cub) so they ended up sitting in their box for 10 months. I probably only had them on for 10 or 15 minutes during that time.I recently purchased the RocHobby F16 from MotionRC (great plane btw) and 12ided to install these lights into the F16. I had them on for probably 10 minutes at most by the time I noticed one light wasn't on. Then I noticed the others were flickering. Not blinking but getting dimmer and brighter. Not in a pattern but randomly. Sometimes no lights at all. I swapped the system to another ESC, Rx and battery. Same thing.I suspect there is a bad controller board in the set I received because the symptoms show all lights being affected or not at any given time. However, due to the amount of time it took to detect it, I could not swap out the set for a replacement. I believe the lights are all good, just a bad controller.I'm not saying they are all bad. I'm saying that the controller I received was defective. Even if I discovered the issue on the first day, I still would have the inconvenience of returning it and waiting for a new set. I don't know their return rate so I cannot say if this is a problem or a one-off. I believe the lights are good though (so 2 stars).I have had good luck with my Freewing LED Controller V3 which came with my Freewing P-51 Mustang (also from MotionRC) so I will replace this faulty controller with one from Freewing. I'll just have to swap out the connectors on these lights to work with the Freewing controller.

installed this light set on a dynam 1270mm corsair. pretty straight forward. would give five stars, except light kit is advertised for 40-60 size planes, yet the wires for wing tip lights are to short for even a 50 wingspan. required cutting wires and soldering extension sections to make them long enough. also the lights require a 09arate receiver controlled switch to allow them to be turned on and off through transmitter. this switch had to be ordered through hobby king. seems like something motion would have in stock, but i couldn't find one. other than these two problems, the lights look absolutely fantastic during dusk and dawn flying. guys at my field were in awe of difference it made to looks of plane. not really visible during the day. am currently building a kit plane and have stopped before covering to add this light set. is kind of weird to buy lights advertised for 40-60 siz plane and then have to modify them to even fit a 40 size, but they look so good i'm going to so it again. make the wires on the wingtip lights longer, 5 stars all day long. no need to buy second set, can simply use wires from a servo extension you probably have laying around already.

Very easy to install. I have mine powered through the bind slot on the receiver so I'm not wasting a channel. Only drawback is how short the leads are going out to the wings. I had to buy a second kit and fabricate extensions for them to reach the wingtips (wingspan is 50). The red led's aren't super bright, but they do the job. The white led's are very nice, great for strobes and landing. The single green led is on crack basically, and that's a good thing. That thing is like a mini flashlight and I wish the red was on the same level. Overall great kit for the price and simplicity, though it'd be better if some extensions were included for those with medium to large sized planes. Will use on future planes that don't come with lights.

I installed this on my durafly sea vixen and it looks great. Added some reflectors for the wing tip lights and landing lights. Made them very bright with a reflector, looks very scale.
