Upon installation the set screw for the nose gear push pull was stripped. Or, perhaps I stripped it, not sure. Either way the metal is very soft and the response from Motion RC was they didn't have any parts and we assume in any build you need to improvise. They suggested I tap it and put in another set screw. However, it's pretty stretched out and would require something much larger. Haven't used them yet but other than that no other issues.

These retracts work very nicely. The price is significantly lower than the big name retracts.

Have not flown yet so this is purely a bench review for now. I like the aluminum frame and overall simplicity of the retract. As others have mentioned, it would be nice if they offered spare components for these as they are absolutely serviceable. Still, they seem pretty robust compared to the plastic housed units in used to seeing on my foamies. My biggest gripe is the lack of a steering ready option. There's different ways this can be addressed but still. I ended up taking the unit apart and drilling out the trunion all the way through. I also had to whittle away enough space for the pin to seat down all the way. Purchased a 5mm pin and coupler off Amazon and this worked perfect.

These retracts fill a real niche in the market, especially for ARFs. They are a good intersection of quality and price. I like that they are consistently available from Motion. The price is very good as ARF retracts go. I like that the two good-sized set screws (for the strut) are accessible without removing from the model, like those that put the set screws on the sides of the trunnion. The not so good? First, they are reverse from nearly all other retracts which can make things weird when using sequencers. The motor seems marginal to me--depending on the size/weight of the wheel and air resistance from gear doors, many times a retract will stall out before retracting fully. The overcurrent protection takes about twice as long to kick in as on other retracts. The extension/lead off the retract is too short. You will always need an extension beyond this. The most likely portion of the retract to fail is the trunnion itself. It would be fairly easy to replace this, but so far Motion has not seen fit to offer it as a replacement part. There is no dedicated nose gear (there are ways to deal with this). In conclusion, I think they are about 80% of the way to a really good product and I think the improvements necessary could be accomplished and still sell at the same or nearly the same price. I have these in five models now -- using them consistently means I can keep a couple on hand as spare which will work on any of these models. But the fact that I keep spares -- and have needed to use them -- tells you something (and not just my flying ability!!!).

I just received the package with the gear, unpacked and hooked up to verify they worked. These are quality units, aluminum frame and positive locking up and down. I expect they'll take quite a beating and still work.

Seem to cycle well enough and be sturdy, using on a blackhorse super tucano. Mounting holes need to be bigger.quite expensive by the time they get to australia. Overall happy with them
