“It was fun to build to learn and understand the sawmill completely, I feel comfortable to fix and dianose any problem. The process of leveling the sawmill was straight forward just take your time to do it right and you get square lumber right from the start. Built a 10x14 shed as a first project.”
“I think it will be a good mill, putting it together sucked. Bag after bag of nuts and bolts. Manual had you going from bag to bag for parts related for the same thing. Example: Went to put on the clutch, it was in a box, no crank shaft bolt. Why would it not be in the box the clutch came in? I spent a lot of time looking for this bolt. Finally called Norwood, Oh, that is in bag 14 he said. Really? Why not in with the clutch? Just the way it is. Over and over things like this. I purchased the Kohler 14 hp. Fired it up, rpm is wide open! Kohler would not warranty it. I could have fixed it, but if not the warranty would have been void so I took it to a dealer. The plastic piece where the spring hooks on was stuck. Dealer found rust on the shaft preventing it from moving. Does Norwood store engines in a controlled enviroment? Could have been shipped to me that way. It was in it's original unopened box in a shed for a few months prior to me installing it. They mention a detailed manual with step by step instructions. I guess you could call it that, you had to guess on a number of things. If not for a youtube video channel, "Mountain Mike" I am not sure it would be running yet. John B said he wasn't too happy about Norwood changing the price. BINGO! That happened to me as well. I purchased this mill based on honesty from Norwood, I found that to be stretched some. I could say a LOT more here but for reasons I will not mention. Suffice it to say, I found something that supposedly they did not know, which blows me away. When I brought this up all I would hear is, "how can we make this right". The manual references a lot of about the LM29, not the 30. Mountain Mike purchased his LM30 during Covid. When it came, everything said LM29, check his video. He was not happy, When he called Norwood about not getting what he thought he was getting, LM30. They told him it is just a name change. Something sounds fishy here. I could go on and on, I will say this, had I known then what I know now, I would have not bought Norwood. A friend of mine has a different brand, he was cutting lumber in about 4 hours. It came preassembled to some degree, where this is every single nut and bolt has to be assembled. No doubt Norwood will see this review and contact me, oh well.”
“This mill works good but is a little over rated by Norwood. It can mill 30” diameter logs and boards over 24” wide but can’t handle the weight of a hard wood log that size at 12 1/2 feet length. I bowed and twisted the rails winching one up on the mill. It may handle that size in pine. Also I wasn’t to happy to find out that some parts are made in China and lack quality. Some of the jacks on mobility tow out.”
“Its a good sawmill. But the battery holder i was sent does not fit the model that i have. The battery slides off the platform because there is not a configuration to bolt it down. And the water system does not work correctly either. The rear posts that hold the log in place were froze up when i got it and theyre difficult to move up and down. It will be a good sawmill when i get these problems worked out.”
“Took my time setting up the LM30. Smooth is the best way to describe the performance. I've cut some spalted maple, and some white ash. Soon I will be processing black cherry and beech. The Briggs starts easily even without the battery. Had to try it. I'm pleased with this machine.”
“Unfortunately I have not cut any lumber with my mill . It is assembled and ready to go. Please send this survey at the end of summer for my comments.
Thank you”
“This little engine always starts right up and has plenty of power to cut through my logs. If you keep a sharp blade on the mill, the engine has no problem cutting through even the thick sections of the log.”
