“If you previously had a Badger InSinkErator Garbage Disposal, the new one installs like a breeze. (I'm a 95 lb woman in her 60's so let's not hear that this was hard to do.) The only problem is the drainage set up on some older ones had a threaded attachment and the new one requires a flanged pipe. The box provided only a 90 degree straight down flanged pipe which wouldn't work for me. Still a short trip to the hardware store offered the straight across flanged pipe which was exactly what I needed. Maybe InSinkErator could provide both so novices don't get so confused and have to interrupt their installations. So far, it works great.Perhaps it's worth adding that the older one had what is apparently a common failing with this brand and the brand has known this for at least a decade and yet has failed to improve it. The disposal body cracked right down from the pipe setting and flooded the sink area and floor.”
“This disposal replaced an earlier InSinkErator model that worked quite well for over 10 years. Used the same mounting collar so it was much easier to install without the usual issues of working under the sink. All plumbing connections matched and easily connected. Not too noisy when operating.”
“This is one of the less expensive models. It does work well, is relatively quiet, and installed easily. The drain ring that it hangs from is galvanized, so it's noticeably duller than the stainless steel sink it's installed in. But, if you just need a basic disposal, it's fine. We don't cram a lot of stuff down our disposal because we have a septic system. But, we had one in our previous house for 37 years on a septic system and never had an issue with the septic system. We like the disposal so that the little bits of food from rinsing the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, and from similar tasks don't then require us to clean out the strainer. Just a quick pulse when done cleaning up the sink and we're all set.”
“Product is OK but the package I received was missing a few of the small parts that should have been included, 1 bolt and 3 screws, not cool ! Luckily I had the old one to pirate parts off of.”
“I want to start by saying that though they say it's a straight swap type of install with another InSinkErator, it wasn't quite that for me. While I was able to mount it on the existing sink drain flange, the units water outlet location is a little higher up. (The unit itself is smaller than the old model 77 it replaced.)The 90 degree outlet pipe they provided was shorter than the original, as that one had to be cut. That one's cut down size was the same as what they provide, so neither was quite reaching the junction enough to seal correctly. I only barely got it to work by loosening all the joints on the other side sink drain pipes and also the trap. I was then able to get to where the sealing collar is able to seal, but is right on the end of their 90 degree outlet pipe.I don't get why they don't send a slightly longer pipe. The receiving pipe being larger can take some of the excess length into it, or the pipe can be cut easily.Anyway, after install, I was impressed at the force this thing has! I'm someone who doesn't put much down through the disposal, but being real old pipes, a mysterious buildup leads to a slow drain and clogs a couple times per year. A main thing I use the disposal for is using their downward thrust of pressure to break through these. Before I installed this, I had a clog. After install I put some drain cleaner down the non disposal side of the sink and let it sit overnight. I flushed with hot water. The clog was still solid. The water level in both sides was high and not budging for hours. So, I held the drain plug down on the other side of the sink and turned this thing on. I could feel just how much pressure this unit was pushing through. It has so much force, I could barely keep the plug held down! (More power than the previous 3/4 HP) Then the disposal side water level started going down! It cleared a very nasty clog and now the drain is clear flowing. As I say, I don't run the disposal much. It has been a week and all seems well. I'll update if anything changes.”
“This was an exact replacement for the previous one which lasted about 6 years. Installation took a few minutes. As far as value, it’s ok to great, but Costco did have a better and normally much more expensive brand on sale in the same price range, but might not have fitted in as easily.”
