“I bought this to replace my existing Badger 5. this is the 1/2 HP entry level unit in the product line, and the last one lasted over 5 years for me. about $20 cheaper (including shipping) than the local big box store had them.Good unit for the price point, and suitable for home use if you don't overload it.”
“After just a few minutes use, disposal started to make a lot of noise. No impediments, installed securely, Can only guess it is the blades knocking againt the bottom. Not satisfied with purchase of this Badger 5 model.”
“This unit replaces the 50XP one which leaked over the weekend. Struggled a bit during installation due to the locking ring not aligned with the upper metal one. Had to tape it down flat so I can rotate the ring to the locking position.Had to use a mall hydraulic jack to raise the unit up.”
“Fairly easy install. Itiss best to have a stirdy forked tool to remove the old disposal. Also, best to have someone or a small jack to hold up the new disposal. I didn't so I used a length of small rope tied through the drain and around the cabinet to raise the new disposal long enough to get it secured.”
“I installed this disposal to replace and older Insinkerator model that got hopelessly messed up when my MIL put Saran Wrap down the sink. :(This Badger 5 worked OK over time, but did cause one bad clog because it didn't do a good job with a large pile of potato peels. My issue was that after 6 years the bottom plate completely rusted out, causing one of the"knuckles" to fall off. This caused the unit to vibrate like crazy when I tried to run it. The disposal was also quite noisy (much nosier than the Evolution model I replaced it with).Overall I'd say this was a decent unit for the price, but I think it should have lasted longer than 6 years before rusting out.”
