Insinkerator 76006, Evolution Septic Assist Garbage Disposal, Black Enamel Gray, 3/4 HP Reviews

4.7 Rating 243 Reviews
Missing installation guide. Power cord clamp hole out of spec. Directions downloaded from web site poorly written and drawings unclear. > 20 min hold time on their support phone number after reaching a rep to get question answered. You would think that such a well known brand would do a much better job of customer support. (I am an engineer and very comfortable with DIY projects by the way.)

Had to return mine... had a short in the motor. Wasted a whole day, and didn't have time for a return (already had plumbed sink for the unit)... Went to Lowe's and purchased same item, installed it, and it works great! plumbingsupplyandmore was fantastic in the return process, crediting back my credit card immediately...I would give the unit 5 stars - Quiet, and very efficient... but because of my personal experience with the initial bad unit-- I will give it a 3 star.

I really like this disposal. It's quiet and have never had an issue with something not being ground up. I have no idea if the bio charge does anything, but it doesn't go through it very fast. I've had it for over a year now and still have over half a bottle left. The unit is big though, make sure you have enough room for it. The sink also doesn't vibrate like it did with the previous one we had.Update 7/18/2017:It's been installed for nearly 2 years now and still runs as good as it did when it was new. It also doesn't go through the "juice" very quickly, we're still on our first jug. Could not be happier with this purchase.

I replaced an older model in this product lineup. This new item is very powerful and almost completely silent thanks to a good motor and a great anti-vibration connector for the drain pipe. I am not especially handy and was able to install the unit without assistance. Ease of installation will in large part depend on whether or not you will need to measure and cut new connecting pvc pipe. I was able to go with the original pipe configuration, thanks in no small part to the aforementioned anti-vibration connector which has an inch or two of play. This current model was a big upgrade in terms of noise and efficiency.

I just love this. It eats just about everything quickly and quietly. It's quite amazing how quiet this unit is. Sometimes the water will build-up a little in the sink as the rubber flange has very strong petals to hold it together and dampen the noise. It only takes a little push to open them up and everything drains from then on. I'll take the low noise over having to do that occasionally every time.Yeah, you put something incredibly fibrous or some string down it and it's not going to be able to grind that up so you need to check for those thing every so often.Very importantly it has yet to come close to even looking like it might jamb. I tend to put all kinds of food items down there to see if it will process them so it gets a good workout at times and comes out the other side.Hard to know how effective the Septic Assist really is as my septic has been in a long time so is far from perfect but I'm sold on the concept if not the thought of purchasing refill...

13 years ago when my house was built, my plumber suggested I steer clear of a disposal. I think earlier models of this type of system were around, but I'm guessing he had experience with homeowners who neglected to change the friendly bacteria cartridge which resulted in septic tank problems. After some internet research, I found this disposal had good reviews from plumbers and end users. Being tired of trying to clean flotsam and jetsam from the sink strainers, I finally had this model installed. Used plumbingsupplyandmore installation services which did a good job on a difficult installation in terms of routing power to the unit. So far it has worked like a charm. Since I have to haul refuse regardless, I limit the disposal to the smaller bits and chunks which should extend the cartridge and limit septic load.

Install was easy enough, would have been a solid hour of work, but I didn't have plumbers putty and had to drive to local hardware shop. Previous disposal was a different brand, so the entire drain assembly had to be removed (hence the plumbers putty). If you already have this brand, the install should be much easier, and not require the putty. I just installed it recently, so will reserve the 5th star for a little "burn in" period.
