“This thing is HUGE! Don't be deceived by the picture, it will take up a significant amount of your under-sink space. We have a double basin sink installed in a standard 24" cabinet, and have this bad boy installed in the left basin. It was too big to fit, so we had to cut the side wall out of the cabinet. Luckily, there is a void between it and the next cabinet so this was not a problem for us, but if you had a cabinet right next to your sink cabinet, you might have an issue. Shouldn't be a problem if you have a larger sink cabinet, or if you have a standard cabinet with a single basin with a drain in the center. The other challenge you'll likely have is how to connect the plumbing in such a way that you can still access the cartridge. The design has the cartridge and and the plumbing spigot on opposite sides of the unit. This means that you can either access the plumbing, or the cartridge, not both. We ended up mounting this about 45 degrees turned clockwise so that I could access the plumbing as well as replace the cartridge. The flange between the unit and sink does a good job dampening the sound, but it also does a poor job of letting air out of the top chamber. The result is some bubbling when you begin running the water. Additionally, you'll have to actively push food scraps into the hole. Not a big deal, but I know some people would prefer to just use the sprayer to wash the food down. Not gonna happen with this guy.All that said, the unit performs well. It is significantly quieter than our 11 year old former unit. When running, all you can hear is a slight hum. We've pushed celery "stubs" into the unit, and it doesn't faze it at all. It also seems to take it easy on the cartridges, so I don't expect to be spending an arm/leg on replacements. We have also noticed a reduction in "funky" smell. Time will tell if this holds true thanks to the cartridge, or if it's just the result of a "new disposal" smell. All in all, I would recommend so long as you have the free space under your sink and don't mind needing to actively push the food into the disposal.”
“Installed this the same day it arrived. Replaced a 1/2hp, from this manufacturer, when it started to leak water (and short out the disposal - which is how I discovered it leaked, thankfully it was on a GFCI circuit.) Anyway, the 3/4hp was of course bigger, which meant the fixed plumbing under the sink had to be updated/modified - ABS vs the cheap white plastic type usually in the store. I think I prefer the ABS know that I have used both....So, unit installed fairly easy, I bought a new power cord with the unit, and minus the plumbing change, it went in very nicely. Once I installed the new sink fitting, the moderately heavy disposal went in fairly easy. Note, the unit feels heavier when you have to lift it at arms reach under a sink in tight quarters. Since their fitting to the sink only requires the unit to be about a 1/3 turn twist to put in place, I was not lifting it for long. Once in, it hooked up pretty fast. This unit has a number of really nice features. The septic assist is nice, based on reviews, I think this will be really great. Also, there is a number of anti-vibration and noise features. It is really quiet. It makes the same level of noise our old one did when it jammed. Now, if you don't expect to hear anything, well, it will be noisy. But to put it into perspective, the water flowing into the sink either makes the same amount of noise, or at least about the same.....it's that quiet.Time will tell how it goes, but so far we are pleased.”
“Installed May of 2013. Works okay, but now the the replacement cartridge will not stay in place. Keeps dropping. It clicks into place but drops as soon as the disposal is operated. Maybe a faulty cartridge? Other than that, it is fairly quiet and grinds up waste easily. A couple of times I've had to use a large screw driver to loosen an auger that was stuck in place. Not sure if a bone or something was stuck underneath. It is way better than the InSinkErator it replaced. The old was very loud and just completely locked up after 7 years of use. I hopeI get that out of this one. I'll update this review if indeed it is a faulty cartridge that keeps falling off. -1 star for that.”
“Ordered this because my old one (same model) broke after about 12 years. I was going to have it professionally installed because I was nervous that my old one was hardwired, and this would be difficult. But I decided to try installing myself, and it was easy because the directions were awesome! The toughest part for me was lifting the disposal and tightening the mounting ring at the same time. You may want to have someone help you with that part, but my husband was at work so I did it alone.plumbingsupplyandmore had the best price around, and it was shipped in 2 days via Prime..love it!”
“I live in a home with a septic system and have always been told that because I live on a septic that I could kiss having a garbage disposal goodbye! TOTALLY WRONG! This thing works awesome and has worked great since I bought it in 2013. It doesn't use much of the blue bacteria boosting liquid when it is in use. It is quiet and crunches everything I put in it up and sends it on its way! My plumber had it installed within a couple of hours.”
“Very satisfied with this product- I was replacing an InSinkErator, so the mounting was already installed. It made it easy.I ended up getting a tire jack from the trunk of my car to support the old garbage disposal as I took it out, and used the jack to easily lift it up close to the mount under the sink, rather than try to hold it with one hand and mount it with the other.I had to cut the PVC pipe- it needed to be a little shorter than the pipe on the old one.The garbage disposal seems to be very good quality: I also like the enzyme pack it has to help biodegrade solids in the septic tank. Also, the garbage disposal is very quiet- so much so when my wife turned it on she thought it wasn't working.I highly recommend this product.”
“I live on a farm with septic have been without a disposal for 17 years. This was about 17 years too long for my wife, so I finally decided to give this a whirl. Installation was a breeze with clear instructions and most of what you'll need (You'll need a way to keep to power and a strain relief or their pre packaged power cord kit (that comes with everything needed to plug in)) as well as the final pieces to tie into your sewer drain. If you've never had a disposal at that site you will need to think about your plan and figure two trips minimum to your local home improvement store. My kitchen did not have a switched outlet for a disposal so I also bought the InSinkErator switched outlet (http://www.plumbingsupplyandmorecom/InSinkErator-STS-00-Outlet-SinkTop-Switch/dp/B000BQO9XM?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s03) to complete my install. The unit is quiet and grinds up everything without a hitch. The disposal takes up a good amount of space under your sink that you may have been using previously. Make sure you have clearance if you have a deep sink. Two trips (as planned - once to get the parts I thought I needed and once to get the part I actually need to finish) and everything was up and running.”
