“This replaced an old Insinkerator, which worked well and was very quiet. It was nice that this one attached to the old mount and it takes up less room under the sink, but otherwise I miss my old Insinkerator. This one is noisier, and the rubber splash guard is stiffer and doesn't block as well - while being harder to use (oddly). So this is a decent unit, but I'd probably go back to Insinkerator next time.”
“I bought this as a replacement for a 10+ year old 1/3 hp Insinkerator that lost a tooth. I chose this model because of it's slim profile; a recent remodel and new sink reduced the clearance behind the drainpipe for the connection to the drain and I was hoping a slimmer model would allow using the existing plumbing which it did. Other than that, this one is noisier than the old Insinkerator, I assume because the slimmer profile doesn't allow for as much or any soundproofing and the splash guard of stiff plastic is harder to push material down through than the old softer rubber one on the Insinkerator. Because I compost most material and don't put bones down the disposal, I can't give a good appraisal of it's ability to grind up harder materials. It handles anything I throw down it.Overall unless you need the slip profile, I would stay with Insinkerator.”
“I bought this model because it's going into a kitchen island where there isn't a lot of undercounter room. It's replacing a 1HP insinkerator that was about three times as large, but had internal damage so was making a metallic grinding noise. The new unit was trivially easy to install - easily attached to the old insinkerator mounting flange, no need to install the new moen flange. Less than 10 minutes to swap the units.Only gets three stars because it's loud - even though it's only 1/2 horsepower, it makes a sharp initial click and then a continuous low-frequency growl when turned on. Also the accessories are not great quality - the rubber splashguard that stops silverware from entering the disposal is flimsy compared to what was in the insinkerator, and the included drain plug was laughable cheap lightweight plastic. So love how compact it is, but wish it was quieter, and they should spend 50 cents more to include a higher quality splashguard.”
