“Old shower cartridge was a bear to remove, had to call a resourceful plumber to hae the plastic orignal (20 years old) melted via torch . What a mess,. The new one was installed after the plumber steel epoxied the old brass fixture since it was ptted inside the fitting. He did a great job, new platice MOEN cartridge worked when the Heavy Duty Brass Moen cartridge would not fit properly and leakedafter install. I recommend replacing Moen cartridges periodically to avoid the issues we encountered.”
“Yes the Moen shower cartridge fixed the mixing problem in my shower. It was a fairly easy install. I found it easy to order on plumbingsupplyandmore without going through aisle in home supplies stores. The Moen shower cartridge should be used to replace a Moen as other cartridge manufacturers may not work .”
“Seemed like the right part but I returned it because a plumber determined the issue was at the water filter system not in the "guts " of my shower. So I returned this. It's genuine moen part and expensive compared to other "replacement" parts. I've heard good and bad about the after market parts.”
“But the old one was there for 30 years and almost impossible to remove I'm really surprised the l pipes did t crack from me yanking on the cartridge, the little tool the give you to help get it out does nothing. I had erased all marking on the old one from scuffing during removal hence I could tell which way the old one was installed which was obviously backwards. My hot came on at start and you had to turn to add cold. But after all the prying I couldnt tell top from bottom hence I installed the new one backwards too. Now I don't want to mess with it anymore, I'm just gonna leave it.”
“Perfect fit and arrived timely. Followed instructions and now my shower does not drip anymore. If you can shut off your water supply, you can replace the cartridge yourself if you have basic tools”
“I'm not sure what size I'm supposed to get but the pin I removed from the old one had a hard time going back in with this new cartridge. I spent hours taking it out & luring it back in thinking somethings getting caught but I just think it's the wrong size. (Not sure) ended up doing alota research and used a paper clip for the time being. So far so good.”
