Tried others that claimed they would fit. Big mistake. Go with the OEM replacement and you'll be happy! Definitely worth the few extra dollars.

1) Make sure you turn off water until the replacement is complete ie. atleast until you put the pin (dont think its fine keeping water on while wiggling the cartrige because the pressure pushes it out)2) Tip 1 : If the new cartridge does not easily slide in remove the black flaps from old one and put on the new one (no glue required)3) Tip 2 : If the cartrdige doest not easily slide in, dont push or tap the stem (gold color) too hard, instead push the plastic one, otherwise, the stem will push the back part out resulting in water always going into the cartridge, which means the shower does not turn off even if the handler is turned off... ( made this mistake, so i had to redo, remove the shower handle, cartridge again, turn the stem of both old and new and realized how that works, it was interesting, otherwise this would have been a 15 mts job, not 1hr)4) Tip 3 : Notch should be down (plumbingsupplyandmore video has it wrong, but its correct on the cartrdige website "moen", check pic)5) Always keep tools handy (needed a 7/64 allen wrench to remove shower handle, had to do an additional trip just because i didnt have this small wrench)

But the old one was there for 30 years and almost impossible to remove I'm really surprised the l pipes did t crack from me yanking on the cartridge, the little tool the give you to help get it out does nothing. I had erased all marking on the old one from scuffing during removal hence I could tell which way the old one was installed which was obviously backwards. My hot came on at start and you had to turn to add cold. But after all the prying I couldnt tell top from bottom hence I installed the new one backwards too. Now I don't want to mess with it anymore, I'm just gonna leave it.

Exact Moen replacement and fit well. I had to rotate the cartridge 180 degrees to reverse the hot and cold. Works well.

I was a bit nervous to pull the old one out since everything I read said to not pull too hard to ruin the copper pipes. The house being 35 yrs old, didn't know how difficult it would be to pull, however with the little white adapter they provide clamped by a vice grips shifting ever so slightly up and down, and pulling the adapter handle with pliers at the same time, it came out easily! I used up all the oil it came with on the gasket parts of the new cartridge, used the same white adapter to push in the new cartridge back in, and what a difference! Very smooth to turn, and no more slow drip when off! A novice like me did this, so you can too.

Off-brand cartridge in bathtub was vibrating (moaning sound) when water was running.Replaced it with the Moen version. The Moen cartridge is quiet, and the faucet turns easily.

It works, but the side gaskets get curled up and subsequently destroyed quite often during install, uninstalling isn't fun either, but it works and is ubiquitous.
